What are your favorite pictures? I'm making a list of pictures to try to take. (I'm addicted to lists - sorry!) Forgive me because I can't remember who has it on their posts, but someone has a shot of 2 kids with Mickey ears on, sitting in a porthole - sortof a silhouette shot. LOVE IT! I'm definitely going to try to get one of those of my 2 DSs. (This might be tough since one of them is only 8 months.) Maybe one of me and DH in porthole too? This will be a Magical Gathering for us and DH's family (SIL, BIL, MIL, FIL, niece and nephew) so group ideas would be great too. Thanks.

11 days until we sail on the Wonder!!! Can't wait!!!

That's funny! I'm not a list-maker, but I'm thinking about making a list of pictures too simply because I get too excited and forget what I wanted to do when I'm on the ship. Then I thought "hmm... wouldn't it be cool to start a web page and publish instructions on how to capture that picture?"

As for the porthole picture, I'm going to do that one too. The proper way to capture it is to spot meter on the light coming through the porthole which will underexpose the foreground thus giving you a silhouette.

As for other pictures, a panorama of CC from the ship and the ship framed by palm trees on CC are 2 good possibilities. The pictures are mine but the ideas came from this forum.

Wide-angle shots of the ship up close are very dramatic. Given the constrast of the ship against the sky, pay attention to exposure on these sorts of shots as well. (I didn't such a good job on this one.)

If you have a fast lens and fast film, be sure to take some shots of the show without your flash. I spot meter these shots; typically from the performers' faces.

During my next cruise, I will take a zoom'ed photo of my family on the little landing area above the atrium. The camera will be on the opposite side of the atrium.
I will take a long exposure shot of the atrium with all the people moving about.
A wideangle shot of the Goofy pool during a deck party.
An evening shot of the ship in port.
Shots of my family on the steps going down into the atrium.

I am anxious to hear about other, creative thoughts.

Here's one more... this is my wife on the top deck after a dinner at Palo. While the exposure on her face is perfect, I blew it with the light in the background which is distracting - so I intend to shoot it again.

400 speed b&w film, 50/1.4 lens. I can't remember the exposure details but I'm sure the aperture was fairly open. My wife's face is side lit by the same type of light you see in the background, and it makes for a very nice effect.
