We just returned from another GREAT Disney vacation and we are in full planning mode for next year. We have already decided for a variety of reasons that we will not be doing the dining plan next year. We will be staying at AKV and BCV (hopefully) as well as Universal for a few days.
We have a few favorite Disney restaurants that we will go to but we want to venture off-site for a few meals as well. Sadly, other than McDonald's and IHOP, we have never eaten off-site of Disney property. So, we are looking for some suggestions.

So what are your favorite off-site restaurants???

Sweet Tomato's, its right on idrive...Such a good vegetarian buffet! I'm not a vegetarian but this buffet is amazing. Salads, pizza, pasta, no meat!

I love Sweet Tomatoes! We used to live right by one and ate there at least once a week. Now the closest one to us is several hours away and we always try to go to the one in Orlando. One word of warning, though - while they do have lots of great vegetarian options, they do serve some things with meat (especially the soups and salads). They are really good about labeling everything well, though. (I know the OP didn't mention being vegetarian, but wanted to mention that just in case anyone who is one is reading this.)

Another of our favorite places in Orlando is Giordano's Pizza. There is one really close to Downtown Disney. They have great deep dish pizza!

We just returned from WDW and ventured out this time and found a GREAT seafood place. Johnnie's Hideaway. It's wasn't cheap but was perfect

I haven't been to Orlando for awhile, but the $3.99 breakfast buffet at Ponderosa Steakhouse was pretty good.

We enjoy Bahama Breeze, Chevys, Mannys Chophouse, Mr. Kongs Chinese, Bubba Gumps, and Giordanos thick pizza only we did not care for the thin.

Fudrucker's ... recently opened in the Crossroads Shopping Center, right next to Friday's! Can you say delicious burgers ... YUMMY, my mouthis watering just thinking of it:thumbsup2

My family loves the Golden Corral. We eat there 2-3 times each trip. The food is very good, there is lots of variety so everyone can have what they like. Price is more than reasonable.

I looked at the WDW menus recently on allears.net, and I realized that I wouldn't enjoy the food at the WDW buffets as much as at Golden Corral...and it costs about 1/3 of what Disney charges. $12-$15 surcharge per person to eat supper with Mickey Mouse is a bit crazy, in my opinion.

Giordano's wins hands down for me :thumbsup2 The have reasonable prices & I love their stuffed pizza :cool1: I ususally go to the one on SR535 Apopka/Vineland near the Country Inn & Suites & Sheraton Safari ...it is next to CVS. There is also one on 192 the west side of I-4 near Goodings & they were opening one up near SandLake & International Drive.. not sure if it's opened yet... :goodvibes

Another vote for Giordano's

My new favorite restaurant is Bogards on I-Drive. If you like food with flavor, you'll love it there. It's like eating in New Orleans - shrimp boil, ribs, dirty rice, oysters, etc.... I can't wait to go back!!!!!
