I am wondering what old time musicals you and your family are watching together! I have 2 DD's that are 6 and 3 and they love singing and dancing. They love Mary Poppins and The Sound of Music and try to sing and dance along with the characters. I know a ton of great movies were made in the 40's and 50's and 60's and wondering if anyone out there has any favorites? I'm looking for light-hearted, mostly singing and dancing, and maybe even some kids in the movie. I should say that my girls are a bit on the scaredy cat side - The Wizard of Oz is still way too scary for them and we still fast forward through the "scary" parts of Sleeping Beauty and Beauty and the Beast!

Looking forward to hearing your suggestions! :goodvibes

Sound of Music is by far my fav. I used to watch it every year with my mom and NEVER make it to end. I still watch it when I see that it is on. My DD just discovered Mary Poppins (after our trip to WDW and getting to see "the lady the talks funny" a lot). I hear her "chim chimmin'ing all the time :)

Oh, and I also have to say I still need my Grease fix every now and then too :)

Choosing a favorite is hard because my husband and children perform in theater and have been in many musicals.

For your girls, how about Annie... a few scary parts but you can skip them.

A few ideas from shows my family has performed in -

Oliver - DH & DS#1
Fiddler on the Roof - DD#1 & DD#2 (different year/company)
Meet Me in St. Louis - DD#2
The King and I - DD#1 & DD#2 (different year/company)
Bye Bye Birdie - DD#1 # DD#3
The Music Man - DD#1
Seussical - DS#1 & DS#2
Oz - DD#3 & DS#2
The Sound of Music - DH & DD#1 (different year/company)
Annie - DD#1, DD#2 (together) & DD#3 (different year/company)

There are many others they have been in, but they aren't really for kids... Gypsy, Westside Story, Guys & Dolls, Pippin', Jesus Christ Superstar - DH's favorite role, A Chorus Line, etc.

On June 4, we went to NYC to see Mary Poppins... it was great!

So I'm just gonna go ahead and admit it. I love High School Musical. There I said it.

I'll admit it I'm a guy and I like Grease and Sound of Music I think that they were both really good, but hey thats just me :thumbsup2
