Best Western Park Place Inn and Suites. It is at the walkway and is 5 mins or less to walk over. There is a free breakfast next door at Capt Kids.

Candy cane inn is great!!!! Short walk on the same side of the road as DL. The breakfast has a great variety of fruits, muffins, bagels, toast, cereal, donuts, juice, milk, coffee. Best choice!!!!

Embassy suites is a longer walk/shuttle. They have a full hot breakfast and it the hotel is very nice.

Is the breakfast included in room rate??

We stayed at the Fairfield Inn by Marriott several times. Rooms were clean and well priced. It is across the street from the main gate and is a quick and easy 5-10 minute walk to the entrances of the parks. Right out front is a McDonald's for easy meals, and a Millies restaurant. Millies had great homecooked type meals. Another bonus was that when you stayed at the Fairfield Inn and ate at Millies, the kids ate free! The Marriott had a little cafe for quick snacks.

I recomend the candy cane. I stayed there in March and May of this year. Once with my family and once with two good friends. We'll (our family) be staying there again in April. Its clean, close, has a great shuttle and good breakfast. The rooms are a bit small, but are nicely decorated. We dont spend a lot of time in our room, so size isnt much of an issue for us.

The free breakfast is pretty good. Its always fresh and well stocked. They offer 3 cold cereals, instant oatmeal, bananas, oranges, apples, bagels with 3 kinds of cream cheese, pastries, muffines, english muffins, milk, juice and coffee.

CandyCane is the ONLY place we stay now after having stayed most everywhere around DL. Breakfast is poolside and rooms are nice (but small). It's a faster walk than their shuttle but it's nice to know the shuttle is there when you've got tired feet.

You can also upgrade to a room level where they bring you your breakfast in a basket instead of going to the poolside for the food.

We just got back from a 5-night stay at the Embassy Suites South. It was an awesome stay.

It was too far for us to walk (DDs are 8 and 5), but ART was great. There is an ART ticket kiosk outside just to the left of the main doors (as you are facing the hotel), and the pick up point is along the "driveway" from Harbour to the main entrance. There is only one other stop on the route and we never picked up anyone there!

The breakfast is included in the room rate (as is the evening manager's reception). There was a great selection of both hot and cold items: made to order omlets, scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, pancakes, french toast, bagels, english muffins, cereal, pastries, oatmeal, coffee, tea, juice, hot chocolate, soda, etc.

I highly recommend this hotel. We really enjoyed our stay.

I have also stayed at both the Embassy Suites South and North. Its the embassy suites and it's wonderful. If you dont mind either driving or taking the bus/shuttle go for it. I like being able to go back to the hotel during the day to relax before fantasmic and fireworks. The breakfast is a full breakfast not just bagles and juice.

I've stayed at both the Embassy Suites and Hampton Inn in Garden Grove. Of the two, the Embassy Suites is by far my favorite and where we will stay again on our next trip. The breakfast comes included with the price of your hotel. There is also an ART stop right outside the hotel so it's easy to catch the shuttle to and from the parks. I did not find it at all inconvenient. There are also a bunch of restaurants and shops (Target, for example) within walking distance of that particular cluster of hotels.

We love the Comfort Inn Maingate.
It is too far to walk but the kids suite is just great. Large room with 2 proper queen beds and a second room with bunk beds for the kids. The kids room has a french door and shuts properly (unlike the portofino where we stayed) and so you can put the kids to bed and still watch some tv or chat without disturbing them. The pool is nice. The breakfast is ample -cereal, milk, juice, fruit, toast and pastries. Nothing fancy but we don't need fancy. It is too far to walk though but the ART is easy and works fine for us.
We've recently stayed at the Howard Johnson and the Portofino and weren't nearly as happy with our rooms as we were with the Comfort Inn Maingate.
Hope that helps!

In talking with others here, I believe that the HoJo does not offer complimentary breakfast. Anyone else to confirm/deny?
If it is important to you, better make sure before you book! :surfweb:

Hands down and mouse ears up, I recommend Candy Cane Inn. We've stayed there often, and even prefer it to Paradise Pier. :thumbsup2

A couple of comments...

We stayed at the Embassy Suites on Harbor (south I think) and it is a very nice hotel with an amazing breakfast! Hot omlettes made to order daily, yummy :goodvibes As well as everythign else you coudl want for breakfast. We didn't like the fact that we had to ride the ART, as convenient as it was to have it right outside the hotel, we prefer to be closer and walk. Therefore, we stayed at the Carosel last trip. Boy were we dissapointed with their "continental breakfast" of Costco pastries, hard boiled eggs, OJ, coffee and doughnuts. WE didn't eat there once because it was that sad of a selection. We spent more $$ than we wanted to and ate at IHOP, the bakery on Main Stree and other various places because of this. Make sure you get a hotel with a decent or good selection of breakfast foods. ;)

For a "suite" place to stay, we like the Residence Inn on Clementine. Hot breakfast, free grocery shopping, reasonable sized suites.

The Candy Cane Inn gets my vote! It's great! Service is wonderful, the breakfast can't be beat, and their shuttle service is the best!

Candy Cane Inn :thumbsup2

Our family of 5 stayed there in May and loved it - it is beautiful, great continential breakfast, reliable/clean shuttle and the staff was so nice. We used our AAA discount and got a deluxe room at a great price. The room isn't large, but considering the little time we spent in there, it worked out fine and we will stay there again without a doubt!!!!

Some mornings when I was ready first, I would head to get breakfast for the family and we would eat on the table right outside our room.

I am very picky when it comes to hotels and booked the CCI upon the advice of Dis people and it was great!
