What is your favorite DVC resort and why?

My husband and I are thinking of renting points to try one out for the first time. I've been looking around at pics and rooms, but can't decide which one I like best. We will be going to WDW for a couple of days so transportation is important, and we have a 3 year old so things for her to do will be important.

THANKS!!

We haven't stayed at all of them yet (working on it tho) but so far we LOVE both AKV and VWL. Both were designed by the same architect - lots & lots of wood...very comforting & homey. LOTS of ambiance at both. VWL is only a short boat ride to MK which is fun. Whispering Canyon is a fun place to eat (the food is only so-so IMO but the atmosphere is fun for the kids)...then there's the geyser out by the main pool which is neat... AKV of course has the animals on-site bonus. Even if you don't get a savanna view unit (not necessary IMO) there are plenty of viewing opportunities around the entire property. Kids love the animals and the property is gorgeous. There is a zero entry pool at Jambo House and the new Kidani Village will have a big (much anticipated) water play area. OH, and then there's Boma - which is our absolute fav. restaurant! I don't think you'd go wrong with trying either AKV or VWL!:thumbsup2

Well BWV and BCV are kinda right in the middle of EPCOT and Hollywood Studios, both have nice water areas but BCV has SAB, Can walk (stroller) over to EPCOT in bout 5 minutes and about 10 minutes to Studios or catch the boat over. Plus you have the entertainment of the Boardwalk itself, def our favorite place to stay anymore with our teens and preteens, Shawnpirate:

I'd have to agree here. Although I own at OKW, I've stayed at all of the DVC locations (obviously with the exception of BLT, THV and VGC). I'd have to clarify 'favorite' based on what I was looking for.

OKW and SSR are very quiet, out of the way and relaxing.
BWV and BCV are quite close to EPCOT and very convenient for things like the Food & Wine Festival.
VWL is also very quiet and, I think, quite romantic. But,
AKV is just way too cool with the animals just outside the rooms. I was like a kid on Christmas morning (and I'm well over 40, though I wouldn't admit that!) for the 2 nights I've stayed there. Can't wait to go back and stay there a whole 10 days!!

Then there's always Vero Beach and Hilton Head that are both also nice off-property beach locations.

sinec this is a question on another chat group, I will copy my reply here
+++++++++++++++++++++

Each resort has its charm. We have stayed at them all except SSR which we
are staying at in May.
I like the Boardwalk at BWV with just hubby, very romantic at night.
I love the pool at BCV, it was our first Disney stay and was great.
VWL had the least amount of thrill for us. We enjoyed its boat, and some of
the walkways, but overall rate this one least fav.
OKW is our favorite overall resort, love the light colors and the fact it is
a DVC resort, so you are always treated to a "welcome home" and most the
members you meet at poolside are DVC members, so you have something in
common right from the start. I have enjoyed many good chats in the spas(and
on the boats) with other DVC members. The porch as OKW is amazing, just
feels like you own a house, and I love the boats to DTD..that is such a
peaceful ride
AKV is also very nice, the part I enjoy the most is Boma's..the breakfast is
fantastic, and I booked my next stay just so i could eat breakfast there
every morning! It is what caused me to add on points there. It was still
jambo at the time, so a lot of the DVC feel was lost there and I do miss
that, at that resort. I am hoping when Kidani opens that will change. The
overall theming is nice as well.

OKW I guess is my fav followed by AKV and for a moderate I love POR it
reminded me a lot of OKW..just peaceful and pretty.

BWV and BCV are our favorites. But the good thing about DVC is the variety. What I like others may not care for.
We did not care for SSR it was too big and the main pool was a complete zoo when we were there.(Easter 2006).
BCV has the best pool .
With at little one VWL is very good most easy acess to MK.

BWV and BCV are very close to epcot and DS Studios is good for meeting charecters.

We have never stayed at OKW or AKL .

OKW, hands down favorite!
Though I love Disney, I prefer when done with the parks, to relax in a tropical environment! I love the lush landscaping, the light and airy Key West theme of the villas and the fact that it's not a hotel type set up like BWV etc.

Next favorite, AKV! Seeing the animals on the savanna is cool but I've noticed that after the first few times, I'm the only one out on the balcony, the kids move on and could care less! Therefore, we only bring new people to AKV!

VWL is my favorite. I love to just relax in the Villas lobby on the rocking chairs & listen to the music. It's my favorite relaxing spot!
