For our next trip, I'd really like to stay at one of the resorts on the monorail line. Just wondering what is everyone's favorite and why?

I've stayed at Polynesian, but it was several years ago...before AK opened...and I've eaten many times at Grand Floridian, but never stayed there. One thing I'd really like is a room with an outside balcony to sit out on.

Our family loves the Polynesian. We've stayed there around 30 times. :cool1:

I personally also love the GF.

We've yet to stay at the CR but feel sure we will one of these days if only for a short stay.

I would go with the one that appeals to you the most. It is so easy and fun to visit the other two via monorail. To me, that is one of the great advantages of those resorts. So many good restaurants, so little time! ;)

GF for us. It is just the most amazing hotel. I know people say it "seems stuffy", but we never felt that way. It has a very relaxed feel to it. We love it.

We have stayed at CR and at the Poly; never stayed at GF. We LOVE the Poly, stayed LVC both times, the pool/view/services were terrific. We liked our stay at CR but kids were younger and pool/ambience was not as important. Both resorts give a great view of MK fireworks/electric water pageant, and monorail/ferry access from either resort was incredibly convenient.....with younger children, you can not beat it!

IMO, you can't go wrong with any one of those hotels. :goodvibes

I like the rooms and decor at the GF the best. The Poly has some beautiful grounds and a great pool area. :flower:

The good thing is, whichever one you choose, you can always hop on the monorail and in a few minutes "visit" another resort.

You'll have a great time, no matter which one you choose! :sunny:

Poly. Love the theme and atmosphere. Direct monorail access to MK and Epcot. Best pool of the three monorail resorts too, IMHO.

Grand Floridian

The theming is beautiful, the grounds immaculate and inviting, the amenities are great...lots of great restaurants--formal and informal, and fun character dining and kids' activities...famous people from time to time :teeth:

Gf for us! You can't beat the beauty, the relaxation and the kids activities! My second favorite would be Poly. CR doesn't really do it for me. Good luck deciding.

My sentiments exactly! :goodvibes

I think the Poly is an example of Disney theming at its best, and can't be beat!

We love the Polynesian!!!!!:cool1:

Its a beautiful place and our kids just love the pools. Its nice to just hop on the monalrail and ride to the parks!!::MickeyMo

Never stayed at Poly - looks too dark and outdated
Stayed at GF found the rooms to be small and spread out
Will be staying at CR for the second time - love it! The room is bigger than Any Disney resort we stayed at. Nice balcony - fit 4 comfortably. Great pool! Fun arcade! Love the monorail running through it. :cheer2:

Isn't it funny when you ask a question like this, you will get all kinds of opinions with a great variety of answers. Glad to see we are all independent thinkers and answerers :teeth:

Having stayed at only the Poly & the GF, I'd chose the GF. I fell in love with it's peaceful ambiance. I was worried it would be stuffy, but it's not at all. I loved waking up & sitting on my balcony, drinking my morning cup of coffee & watching the Resort Wake Up. The room size was great (I'd never get a small impression, maybe a dormer room is smaller or something?)
We had wonderful service, the amenities were great. The location was perfect, the transportation easy & convienent. Food options fantastic. Unexpectedly catching some of Wishes from the quiet pool Magical.....

The Poly has it's good points too, although it wasn't my favorite. The Volcano pool has a much better view of the fireworks, which is very Magical to me. The proximity to the TTC is a big bonus also. The restaurants were delicious (love Kona!) But, I found the rooms to be dark & dank for my taste. We had repeated problems with Mousekeeping (even after bringing it to the concierge staff's attention) and we found the Volcano pool too small for the resort. But I would stay there again if the price was right.
