Favorite CS in DCA?

I talked the Advisor into spending the extra 20.00 per teen to get the park hoppers.

My son just got home and told me it wasn't me who talked him into the park hoppers - the Advisor from the other area high school who is going said they were getting them and if our schools Advisor wanted both schools to hang out together, our Club needed them. Either way it's still a Yay!

He has decided that we will be in DCA from 10am to 3pm first and then move over to DL.
I tried to convince him to start in DL, move to DCA and finish at DL but that was a no go.

Since the Club will be in DCA next week over lunch, I thought I'd ask everyone what their favorite CS lunch is in DCA.

When I was there last summer, we didn't find much - either that or we missed it.

Thanks in advance.

You might want to use the DCA exit to the GCH to eat at Whitewater Snacks. After you go through the exit by River Rapids, you walk down the hallway and turn left. There it is. Very close. They have good food for good prices and large portions. DH and I can split nachos or a chicken sandwhich. One of my sons got the pizza and salad and said that was good too. Our favorite part is that it's quiet in there. It's so peaceful and a nice break from the park. There are bathrooms right next door too so easy to hit those at the same time.

My family all enjoyed the Taste Pilots' Grill, and I've seen similar good reviews from others. We also ate at Paradise Garden Grill - it was a nice area with entertainment, and there was at least one other CS place right next door (Boardwalk Pizza and Pasta), so if different people in your group had different wants, you could order separately and then eat together in the communal area. If you do go to the PGG - my only complaint was the baklava. Maybe I caught them on a bad day, but it was *horrible*. Baklava is maybe my favorite dessert, but I left the portion unfinished that day. The rest of the food was quite good though, in my opinion.

The Pacific Wharf Cafe - we love the Bread Bowl Soups & Salads. I'm not sure how your group will work - but the Pacific Wharf area has several CS restaurants that basically share a large seated area so group members could potentially pick from several restaurants but eat in the same area if that works for you.

This!! Pacific Wharf Cafe is my favorite but Dh and the kids would rather have something else. We get their food and get them settled then I go get my food while Dh sits with the kids.

I also think that White Water Snacks would be a great option. There are options for many tastes there. My other suggestion would be to either grab a corn dog from Corn Dog Castle or a hot dog from Award Wieners. I was surprised how much I enjoyed their chili cheese dog!! Yum!!

I am another vote for Whitewater Snacks over in the GC its one of our favorites for lunch.
We also love Pacific Wharf's bread bowl soups, and are big fans of the Corndogs at Corndog Castle.

Taste Pilots Grill is our favorite, hands down.
We like Award Weiners but it's not the best ever. :)

We like the Luckey Fortune Cookery and the bread bowl salads on the wharf, the plus side of eating on the wharf is you can get soup bread bowls, salad bread bowls or sandwiches at the cafe (you can ask for the bread on the side if you prefer to eat it later) for some of your group, mexican from Rancho Cucamonga for other and Asian from Luckey Fortune for yet others. There is also a Margarita bar and a beer truck. :) And there is plenty of open seating for everyone!

Taste Pilots Grille. Not great but pretty good burgers... :)

Taste Pilots Grill for us too. Ok Hamburgers and decent ribs for an amusement park. Love the waffle fries.

Never have understood the high reviews of Taste Pilots. I've tried there 3 times and always the same. Dried out burgers that sat in warming bins and often luke warm when served. The ribs were good but expensive and you don't get enough.

Instead we use the GCH exit through GF to DTD and eat at Jazz Kitchen Express. Always hot off the grill burgers that are bigger and better than Taste Pilots. They are $5.99 for a single or $6.99 for a double cheeseburger with fries. A great deal for CS.

I agree with all of this, the only difference being that I prefer the salads at Pacific Wharf over the soups.

I don't know how closely the parties will be chaperoned...like sonjaandsue said, the Pacific Wharf Cafe is in a kind of food-court-ish area that also has Mexican and Chinese-style eateries, so that might be your best bet for teens (and perhaps a slightly quicker way to get everyone fed, versus everyone waiting in the same line).

Another option would be Boardwalk Pizza and Pasta (in the same area as Paradise Garden Grill, which has skewers of meat). I really like the pasta there, but that feels a bit less like a food court to me--maybe a little less visibility. They have flatbread pizza that looks rather small to me, so it could get pricey for a hungry teen (though I find the pasta is deceptively filling).

Whitewater Snacks is good, but I'm not sure I'd want to take a party out of the parks, and I find the service a bit on the leisurely side (I know when I was that age I wouldn't be too fond of waiting outside the park when I could be playing inside the park). If I recall correctly your group isn't that big? But I'm not sure how big the combined group is, and I'm not sure how the kitchen would handle a big group.

Do you absolutely need to have a set itinerary before you get there? If I were you, I'd figure out which of the many options listed will work for your party, and then when it's time to eat, just choose the one that's closest to where you are. (And if you can eat at off hours, you'll save quite a bit of waiting.)

Oh, I see, a group of teens! I thought you were calling your spouse THE ADVISOR! :rotfl2: I get it now. I agree with Eee-va. Pacific Warf or Garden Grill area is much better for a big group.

The Paradise Garden area is great. Skewers of meat or tofu with rice pilaf and pita and your choice of sauces at one place. And pizza/pasta if you go in the other area. Then everyone can meet up at eat outside, possibly while listening to music.

I do like the Wharf for their veggie chili, but if they have to eat at anywhere near a rush time, they'll consume an hour just waiting in line for food.
