Great server...Roy from India. Asst. was Mario from Croatia. His wife (of 2 years) is also a server. He was introducing her to the table next to us.
Tektas, from Turkey, was our head server. He was, well, a head server. He never appeared the first night. Showed up briefly the second. On the 3rd, he was doing magic to get us to like him before "tip night".
Poor Roy had trouble meshing his broken English with our South Alabama drawl, but we had a lot of laughs at the goof-ups:
On the first night, my DH wanted a "plain green salad" with lettuce, carrots, and ranch dressing. He got 2 quarters (of a head) of lettuce, still intact (not torn or cut in any way). Roy told him the carrots would be along shortly.
When they arrived, it was a plate of carrot sticks. DH had to take a bite of carrot stick, then a bite of lettuce. We thought that funny, but it got better.
On the third night, DH got brave and got very specific this time. He asked for a green salad with grated carrots and grated cheese. Yay! He got it.
On the last night, DD wanted vanilla ice cream (her standard dessert) with a strawberry on top. She had just learned to like whole strawberries from Scoops that very day. I wanted to be sure that Roy understood she wanted a "whole berry" not sauce. Well, we all had a good belly laugh when Roy showed up with her two scoops of ice cream. It had a straw buried in it (looked like a flag standing there). Get it?
Oh and Jacqui is very sweet. Our room host, Bart, was nothing spectacular, but we didn't ask him for anything either. The one thing I asked was for 2 things to be sent for pressing. He just couldn't seem to understand me.
