What is your favorite must go to restaurant and if money weren't an issue you'd definitely go to?

Thanks for the suggestions!

Sheri

We made a reservation at Tcoup Chop, just wondering if there's anything else that everyone really enjoys. I've heard about Mythos, and Margaritaville too.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Mythos is really neat! The food is good too. But my DH and I have never gotten good service at Margaritaville and the food isnt all that IMO.

Definitely Mythos. We also love Tchoup Chop, but Mythos won't cost anywhere near as much and the food is just as good.

DBIL and family have AP to US/IOA..... Their favorite place is Margaritaville...they go every time. They are joining us the last few days of our stay at UO, and they even gave us a GC to use at Margaritaville :yay: (they knew we wanted to eat there and try it!)

I've eaten at Bice Restaurant in the Portofino Bay and at Mama Della's. They're both EXCELLENT Italian restaurants. Even if you're not staying there, you have to take a water taxi to the hotel at night. It's beautiful, romantic. Definitely make a reservation for one of these.

I even find myself at Hard Rock Cafe sometimes for more laidback, loud dining. Haha.. I always get Joe Perry's "Rock Your World" Quesadilla.. with the mango peach hot sauce and the pineapple salsa.. it's SO good! This is definitely a higher quality Hard Rock than some of the ones I've been to.

And I can't wait for Bubba Gump to open. It'll be great having one of these onsite! I like Ping Pong Shrimp, Cajun Shrimp, Fried Shrimp, Coconut Shrimp, Stuffed Shrimp, New Orleans Shrimp..

Finnegans at Universal
Confisco at Islands (grilled chicken on ceasar greens over flatbread)
Hurricanes & Redfish at O'Bryans
Bleu cheese chicken pasta at NBA

These are my favs. I can honestly say I've never had a bad meal when I go to Universal/Islands/Citiwalk. I think we've eaten everywhere, too.

My vote goes to Tchop Chop and Emerils at City Walk. Love them both!

The Palms at Hard Rock Hotel. Best meal I had on my last trip.

Is there anywhere online to see their menus? Is there anything like ADR at Universal?

We love Mama Della's at Portofino. We found Bice disgusting..if you are used to very good high end restaurants..stay away from Bice..this is not good.

Tchoup Chop at Royal Pacific is fantastic.

We love Finnegans inside Universal, Mytho's inside IOA.

We were not at all impressed with Palm at Hard Rock.

On City Walk there is wonderful food at NBA City and The Latin Quarter.
We like Margaritaville for nachos and shots, snack type food.

Mythos hands Down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
service, food impeccable.

I may be the minority but I hated tchoups! Not for the food but the service.
we had a 5:30 pm ressie and by 5:45 we were served our main course...
oh and btw, we were still eating our appetizers....

they rush you, rush you, rush you...

I called the mgr over! I had spent $200 and was out of the restaurant within less than an hour..

I believe when you are spending this amount of money you should be able to linger a bit between courses....

I was sorely disappointed.

but then again, I was there quite a few years ago...
Maybe they got the message from other patrons

I've felt this way at some places and have refused to "hurry it up" to DH. Why should I rush? I'm just as special as anyone else there eating! I wouldn't have rushed....I'd taken my time and told the server so...ESPECIALLY spending $200! No way! Sorry you didn't have a good experience, but, like you said, maybe it's changed since you last went!!

Our favorite must do's every trip:

For lunch:
Finnigan's and Mythos

Dinners:

The Palm at the Hard Rock - Always excellent food and service. We usually get one staek and one lobster. The waiter takes all the meat out of the lobster for you too. Great martinis too!

Bice - Love this restaurant. It is authentic Italian, not Italian-American.

Mama Dellas - Fun and really good Italian American in a kitchen setting. I love the family style atmosphere.

Tchop Chop - Fantastic food and service. The Mai Tai's will knock you on your butt - they are the original recipe. We always order fish and it is always perfect.

Emerils - Just gotta love it...everything is great here.

The never return:
Margaritaville-The one place we have tried more a few times and always disappointed is Margaritaville. I actually got sick on 2 seperate occasions from the food. We have also tried other Margaritaville's in other locations and did not like them either. The place is cute and the drinks are good, but do not care for the food.

The just OK's: Nascar Cafe, Hard Rock Cafe and NBA City....typical "bar food" actually it is all pretty much the same.

Is there something we are missing that is really great? Maybe we are stuck in a rut.

A must-do for DH and I is an O'Bryans outdoor dinner by the fire fountains. We've just tried about everything on the menu, and while everything we've tried has been "good," (I think hurricanes help everything to seem "good") the crawfish etouffee nachos for an app and their signature blackened redfish dinner with mashed potatoes and fried okra is out of this world. Man, talk about heaven.

Fish & chips with a pint (or two) is a must-do at USO for us.

Confisco's has a really good salad I always levitate towards as a must-do. It's a ceasar salad with kalamata olives and fried pepperocinis, grilled chicken, with flatbread on the bottom of the plate. Their buffalo fry pyramid is also pretty neat. I've had other meals here I wouldn't write home about.

The blue cheese chicken pasta at NBA used to be a must-do (although DH doesn't really care for the restaurant, nor blue cheese), but I think I'm pretty close to making it at home for myself...sure tastes close :)
