We're having a big party in July for DSis 50th ( :scared1: ) I'm detailed to make a cake/dessert. There will be @ 50 -60 people. I was thinking maybe a pineapple upside down cake but making one that big ~ I don't know . Any ideas????

Sams club :) half of a sheet cake fresh made is 14.95 not sure what a full sheet cake is. either butter cream or whipped frosting, Both are very good. They only need 24 hrs notice.

Texas sheet cake - MMMMMMMM

The chocolate cake recipe on the back of the Hershey's baking cocoa is fabulous. You could easily double it.

Looking for easy? Here's two:

Better Than Sex Cake: Bake a german-chocolate cake from a mix in a 9"x13" pan; let cool for a while, then poke with a knife or fork so there are some small holes and then pour a jar of caramel topping (find in the ice cream topping section); spread 8 oz. of Cool Whip on top, then sprinkle with crushed Heath or Skorr bars. Mmmmm!

Cherry Dump Cake: In a 9"x13" pan, pour one can of cherry pie filling and one 14 oz can of crushed pineapple; do not mix. Sprinkle one yellow cake mix (dry) over the fruit; pour two sticks of melted butter on top of the cake mix, then top with one cup of crushed pecans. Bake at 350 for one hour. Mmmm Mmmm Good!

for the summer I like to make this. it is no real recipe but something I just "throw" together.

I use a good size cake pan 13x9 or go bigger if you want.

I use cool whip, pound cake and all the fresh berries I can get my hands on. I do a layer first of sliced pound cake, lay it flat, then I top that with a layer of cool whip, then a layer of berries( I use like blueberries, strawberrys that I cut up and even raspberrys) I keep layering it like that till I get to the top witht he pound cake, then I throw cool whip on and use the berries to decorate the top!!\

it sounds stuipd but goes over SO well, the guys always just eat it up!!!

You need a large punch bowl or something similiar. Rave reviews will come your way. If you have any questions, just let me know.

Punch Bowl Cake

2 cans of cherry pie filling
2 cans of blueberry pie filling
2 cans of crushed pineapple - drained
1 large cool whip
cherries - drain
pecans - chopped

Bake cake mixes according to directions on the box. Let cool completely and then crumble into pieces.

In a large bowl or a punch bowl - layer in this order

1/3 crumbled cake
blueberry pie filling
1/3 crumbled cake
crushed/drained pineapple
1/3 crumbled cake
cherry pie filling
cool whip
decorate with cherries and pecans

Jello Pudding Cake :goodvibes

1- Box white cake mix
1- Large box Strawberry Jello
1- Large box vanilla pudding
1- Tub Cool Whip

Make cake according to directions.

While cake is still hot poke holes all over it using the bottom of a wooden spoon.

Dissolve Jello in 2 cups boiling water, than pour all over, making sure to cover the entire cake.

Let cool.

Make vanilla pudding according to directions.

Cover cake with pudding.

Cover the pudding layer with a layer of Cool Whip.

Hello,
I found you a wonderful cooking site. They have everything including recipes for large crowds. All the recipes have a serving change. For example: Say the recipe serves 10 you can put in 50 or 60 servings and it converts the recipe amounts for that many servings.

It really is easy to make and people will LOVE you for making it.

Dirt Cake :goodvibes

1- 32oz. package Oreo cookies
1- 80z package creem cheese
1- Cup powdered sugar
1- Stick butter
2- Small packages vanilla pudding (dry)
3-1/2 cups milk
1-12oz container Cool Whip

In a blender, grind Oreo cookies, set aside.

In a small mixing bowl, cream the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and butter set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, mix vanilla pudding and milk. Next, fold in the Cool Whip.

Finally, fold in the cream cheese mixture.

In a container place the Cool Whip mixture on the bottom. Add a layer of cookies, than Coool Whip, than cookies and keep alternating the layers.

Refrigerate 24 hours befor serving.

As for containers... I have seen this in a plastic flower pot, and than they put plastic flowers in the center and you can even stick gummie worms half in half out.

For a big family picnic, I went to K-Mart and picked up a large plastic wheelbarrow that had a shovel, rake, and hoe with it, in the toy department.
I also added the gummie worms, it was a big hit.

That was the first thing I thought of when I read the thread!

Funny that we're both from Indiana...I wonder if it is a regional thing. :confused3
