I love the way tulips look but they really only perform well in clay soil for one year. So, as much as I love them, I really don't plant them regularly anymore.

I adore daffodils swaying in the wind! They look so lovely...all white and yellow as they beckon spring in the wind! I love all the variations and especially love the ones that are fragrant! I plant daffodils every year if I can! I never have enough daffodils!

I love the sight of grape hyacinths in the late spring...they look like little grape clusters! I adore snipping a few and mixing them with late daffodils in an arrangement! And they spread! What a bonus!

I adore the smell of hyacinths but, they, too, do not last in clay soil! Again...another bulb I have forsaken for convenience!

Do you have a favorite bulb? Are there reasons you plant them? Or don't plant them???

I LOVE lilies in every color and variety!

I adore bulbs! :)

Tulips, the smell of hyacinth, daffodils...even little crocus.....all mean spring is coming. Unfortunately, I am not that motivated to order bulbs way in advance, chill them, and plant them every winter just to toss them out in the spring. I have to live vicariously thru the Northerners around here!

I did just plant dahlias, calla lillies, and glads. But, it just isn't the same without the cool-weather bulbs.

I like many different types, but my favorite are gladdiolas of various colors. I also like lillies, tulips, dahalias....

I also love tulips.... bet you can't guess why. :earboy2: However, I also don't have them last more than a season or two, so they don't get planted much anymore because I'm a lazy bum.

So, I guess daffodils have to be voted my favorite because my SIL a number of years back gave me many, many bulbs (I didn't plant them all!) and they keep coming back every year and they do make me happy when I see them.

I love tulips, daffs and jonquils, but I have always dug them up and replanted them in the fall. I really like the ease of lillys, and now that we have sone sun around us, I will be planting some of those again.

Mommytotwo, I like glads too, but find them too difficult for me to grow. Not sure why, but I just have no luck with them. We are able to grow lots of iris around here though, and I love all the varieties, both big and little.
