Anyone have a favorite brownie recipe?? I'd be very interested in any with carmel or smores. Thanks

I've never liked how my homemade brownies turn out. So my favorite recipe is Betty Crocker's Turtle Brownie mix.

and I love Betty Crockers brownie mix.....this is always a sure winner

Funniest thing......I used to make homemade brownies that were pretty good but then started using box mixes b/c they were so much easier. I use either Duncan Hines or Betty Crocker. At my church we try to supply snacks for the Youth group on Wed nights and every time it's my turn to bring something, the kids always ask for my brownies or chocolate chip cookies. They say I make the best of anyone......always want to know my secret....
no secret...I use Toll House Break and Bake cookies and DH brownie mix. Just very careful of time in the oven and make sure to not overbake. I have to admit they are VERY good. :teeth:

I'm not sure I should post mine here. I got them from a parenting board I journal at and they are known as CRACK brownies there because they are sooooo good and addictive. In fact, the very first time I made them, they won second place in the bakeoff at church (just a couple weeks ago).

Please could someone tell me what smores are? We don't have them in the UK, at least not by that name.

If any of you are ever in England I recommend buying some of ASDA's brownie mix. You just add water and put it in the oven for 15mins - absolutely gorgeous! Best thing is my housemate doesn't like it as it's very runny (almost liquid!) so i get the whole thing to myself each time!

S'mores are a hot toasted marshmallow and a piece of chocolate between two graham crackers. The marshmallow melts the chocolate and it all gets gooey. YUM

I only use Duncan Hines boxed brownie mix and they always turn out great. Here's a great s'mores brownie recipe that used to be on the box years ago. Make sure you buy the box that makes the 9''x13'" pan of brownies.

CHEWY S'MORES BROWNIES

1 Duncan Hines Fudge Brownie Mix
2 c. miniature marshmallows
graham crackers
6 oz. milk chocolate chips

Prepare and bake 1 package of Duncan Hines brownie mix according to package directions.
Immediately on removing from oven, sprinkle 2 cups miniature marshmallows and 6 oz. of chocolate chips over warm brownie surface. and return to hot oven for about 2 minutes to melt.
Arrange graham crackers on top of the hot marshmallows and press down lightly. (I always break the graham crackers along the indentations before placing them on the brownies. It makes it easier to cut.) Cool completely before cutting.

The Chewy S'more Brownie recipe is again on the box!! Tried it a few months ago, and have been requested to bring it to every family gathering since!! Very easy and good!!
I didn't have actual graham crackers once, so I substituted the graham cracker crumbs, works just as well if not better.

OK - a little OT since they don't have smores or caramel, but.... If you have a Costco nearby they have a super brownie mix. It is Ghirrardelli (sp?) brand with milk chocolate, semi-sweet chocolate and dark chocolate chips. There are six packages of mix inside the box, and I think it was around $8. A lady I work with made them and brought them in - several people said they were the best brownies they'd ever had.

My favorite brownie recipe involves York peppermint patties and it is simple! Just prepare any box brownie but pull it out of the oven a few minutes early. Put the peppermint patties in rows. Put back in the oven for the last few mins. When it is time to pull them out, quickly spread the melted patties. These are always a crowd favorite with my friends!

After a couple PMs, I realized I never did come back to post the crack brownie recipe  I am in nursing school and unfortunately haven't been able to take this summer off :( so between classes, family stuff, and getting ready for our trip this FRIDAY :Pinkbounc I have been crazy busy. Anyway, here is the recipe...

INGREDIENTS:
1 cup butter
2 cups white sugar
4 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/2-1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional - though IMHO they make the recipe divine!)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a 9x13” pan (I "flour" with a bit of unsweetened cocoa to avoid the white). In a large saucepan, melt 1 cup butter. (You can do this in the micro too - just use a large enough bowl so you can add the rest of the ingredients). Remove from heat, and stir in sugar, eggs, and 2 teaspoons vanilla. Beat in 2/3 cup cocoa, 1 cup flour, and salt. If desired, add in semi-sweet chocolate chips and mix well. Spread batter into prepared pan. Bake in preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Do not overcook.

I won second place at our church bakeoff a few weeks ago with this recipe. They are very gooey and yummy, so if you like your brownies cakelike, you may not like this recipe. When warm, these brownies are EXTREMELY gooey but will firm up after they cool. Enjoy :)

I always have a problem with brownies, that the outside edges and corners get hard by the time the center cooks. I have used glass pans, metal pans, pampered chef stoneware and they all have come out the same.

Does anyone have this problem and have a solution?

I used a brownie mix that made less than what I'm used to and I noticed that the edges were hard. I used the same size pan 9x13, but since there was less batter they were thinner. You might want to try using a smaller pan or lower heat. JMHO

I was going to make the same suggestions! Try using a smaller pan. I have one that's made by Anchor and it's 8 x 11.5 and is amber glass that I use alot.
I also have one that's 8 x 8 square that works pretty good when I want thicker brownies. I don't use a metal pan. For whatever reason they just don't seem to be as good. You might also try lowering the temp of you oven by 25 degrees and see how that works. :goodvibes

I will try a smaller pan and I was thinking that lower the temp might help bake it more evenly too. I'm usually a pretty good cook but my brownies are terrible.

I always lower the temp 25 degrees and mine are always a little crunch/chewy on the edges and nice and flakey on top.
