Favorite Breakfast Buffet

I like Boma and Crystal Palace for all the reasons mentioned, but my other favorite for food and value is at the Swan, which is an easy walk from the Boardwalk or Yacht/Beach Club. Not for the characters but for the slightly different options than places like Cape May.

The Wave is my favorite. The buffet is always fresh, not crowded, pleasant, low key place to dine. They have a couple unique items on the buffet and its not very often that you dont see the chefs rotating the food to keep it fresh. Most of the food items are sustainable as well. This place is a hidden gem IMO.
Another favorite is Trails End. I am not real big on the other meals, but breakfast is very good. Usually not very crowded. They also have a couple unique items.

Another vote for The Wave and Boma's. Both have great selections that are replenished and the staff is very attentive.

I thought Boma was the best buffet for both dinner and breakfast. I also enjoyed Cape May. I was not a fan of 1900 for breakfast.

I am a big breakfast buffet person too. Boma was the best I have been to so far. Tusker House and Crystal Palace are also great IMO. We are trying Trails End on our next trip.

Call me crazy but we like Chef Mickey's. It's a fun, loud, lively atmosphere that kids will love, and we think the food is good and they have some different offerings that you don't see at some other buffets. We also enjoy Crystal Palace as a pre-park opening breakfast.

We have had the breakfast buffet at Ohana, 1900 Park Fare, and Tuskers House and my favorite of those is Ohana.

Would you choose Captain's Grille breakfast over Cape May's?

Depends on what I'm looking for. This one is kind of comparing apples and oranges. If my goal is a quiet breakfast with lots of options, yes I would choose Captain's. And that's typically my goal, since I generally travel solo or just with my SO and we're in our late 20s. If I want characters, I'll go to Cape May. Cape May DOES have a larger variety of food, but not double the cost worth. Both have comparable food in terms of quality. Cape May IS one of the more laidback, quieter character meals, but not as quiet as Captain's Grille. Because it's not a character meal, Captain's is quieter and I've been successful walking in with no reservation (on a Saturday during Flower and Garden Festival, pre-park opening).

We have enjoyed the breakfast buffets at the Wave and Captain's Grille, but we super loved Akershus last year. It's not a full buffet (the hot selections are served family style), but the character interactions and the Scandinavian specialty foods are awesome! DH wants to go again this year because he says he was not "properly prepared" and therefore failed to eat as much as he really wanted to!
