I guess we have a lot of topics on travel, so I'm wondering what are your favorite airports and why? Could be anything - maybe a favorite home airport when there are multiple options, or a particularly nice one that's been visited. I realize everyone has a different reason.

I like mid-sized airports that aren't crowded. My usual options are Oakland International or San Francisco International. The latter isn't a horrible experience, but I live further away and it suffers from delays when there's bad weather (usually fog). Oakland doesn't get the same level of traffic and can operate pretty much normally in bad weather. San Francisco has to reduce operations to a single takeoff and single landing runway if there's poor visibility. There's typically less stressful security lines too. Oakland also has some pretty good food options. I don't have a whole lot of experience using it, but Sacramento was pretty nice too.

I really don't have a favorite airport per se. The landings at the old Kai Tak in Hong Kong and at St.Maarten were/are spectacular, but the airports themselves were/are unremarkable.

My most frequently used airport, PHL, is often a PITA. Atlantic City (Spirit Airlines) is easy to use but there's not much in the way of amenities.

For a larger airport, Denver seemed to work well the few times I connected there.

Austin. Easy airport to use with nice places to eat. Modern & very clean, not run-down like some smaller airports.

Southampton International. It's a dinky little regional airport close to hime that mainly serves domestic and local European destinations. It's just about the right size to have facilities yet avoid the bustle of a major hub.

I might be bias but I love Vancouver International Airport. Definately my favourite of the others I have been too. Best part is when I got there I am usually going on vacation. I don't like the arriving back there as much. Lol.

It depends what you mean by "favorite airport". To fly through? Iceland's. Food and shopping and size/security line wise it's like the best of all worlds.

Favorite airport to spend hours in due to layover or delayed flight? SeaTac. I can entertain myself for ages, and I like the food options.

DCA is a really easy in and out. I get to the airport at 6:00 for a 6:30 flight. Go inside, zip through security and arrive at gate I time for boarding.

Pearson out of Toronto is my home airport, but it's big and busy so I avoid it if I can. I guess that makes Buffalo airport my favourite. It's small, easy to navigate and never busy.

Local airport is JFK for sure. Newark is a close second but their gate area is crowded with few bathrooms (nothing says line more then 3 flights deplaning at the same time). Dead last and you would have to score me a massive deal is La Guardia.

Flying through I can't remember the name (possibly Charlotte) that has the rocking chairs.

Large airports I would say Orlando (as it means I am heading to a Disney trip). Small regional airports I like White Plains, NY and Redmond, OR. We had a long delay in Redmond last week and we had a meal in their small restaurant and it was really good!!!

Martha's Vineyard Airport... for obvious reasons.

As airports go, Lambert - St. Louis is pretty pedestrian and unremarkable. But what can I say, it's the only airport I ever really fly out of (it's the closest big airport to me). I've never had too long of a wait at security; it's clean and modern-looking; it's easy to get around in. Truthfully, no complaints.

Also at this time, I'd like to give a shoutout to the Central Illinois Regional Airport in Bloomington, Illinois. Mrs. Homie and I flew to WDW from there once, as it's a beautiful little airport. Very nice for a small-town regional airport. Also, if you're in Springfield or Bloomington, it wouldn't hurt to compare fares from there vs. your home airport and/or St. Louis/IND/O'Hare. You may find that it's competitive. (Mrs. Homie and I drove 60 miles north, to get on a flight 160 miles south, to our connection in St. Louis), because it was cheaper than flying out of St. Louis.

I'll just put in a good word for Portland (Oregon). I heard the airport concession prices are regulated an about the same prices as local businesses. It's also got rental cars right in the parking garage, which is similar to Reno or John Wayne (Orange County) Airport. Some don't like the latter because of their typical noise reduction takeoffs.

Flew out of Lambert a few times, agreed that it isn't bad. Despite the offsite parking, it seems fairly reasonable. Our local in Springfield, MO is great. We have American, Delta and United and have 6 options to connect through on those carries (Chicago, Dallas, Atlanta, Denver, Charlotte and Houston). Add in the low cost Allegiant and for a relatively small town we are very well serviced.

My least favorite airport is O'Hare in Chicago

I've only been to a handful of airports but Vancouver BC was best by far.

My home airport is pretty great, BWI. There are tons and tons of flights so I usually find exactly what I want and the pricing is usually pretty good. I have had really good experiences there. As far as a smaller airport, I like Omaha. It was small and it difficult for me to get a direct from to or from there but I got through security in about 2 minutes. I'm used to long lines so I just on for it but there was only 1 person in front of me.
