We camped last year at Fort Wilderness, but spent most of our time in the parks. This time we are looking to spend more time at FW. I don't think that we have even really SEEN the swimming pools! Also, don't I recall some daily activities for kids??

We did spend some time just sitting in the rocking chairs, and will rent a golf cart for the week to make it easy to get around and hang out. We're also familiar with the petting zoo and stables. Any other good activities to try while we are there?

Thanks. :wave2:

1. Nightly campfire program
2. Browsing around the Trading Posts
3. Renting bikes to explore the campground
4. Renting water mice at the marina
5. Sitting on the beach, watching the Electrical Water Pageant
6. Playing at the arcades (one by the Meadows pool, and one in Crockett's Tavern)
7. Sitting on beach at night, watching MK fireworks
8. Walking the trail over to WL
9. Take the boat to the WL and Contemporary and explore those resorts
10. Nightly hayride
11. Rent a canoe and explore the canal
12. Fishing from the pier in the Meadows area
13. Walk the swamp trail

We like to ride around on the golf cart and check out all the other campers setups. I am amazed at how some of the tenters take a pad and just make it look so homey! Some have everything that I have in my RV except perhaps the washer/dryer. :teeth:

Only after joining this board that I read about the great things in FW, but as we will be staying in BWV this summer, can we use the activities in FW? say the petting zoo or watching the Electrical Water Pageant? It helps to decide where we will be staying next year.

Yes - all WDW resort guests are welcome to join in any of the FW activities! ::yes::

Go to HDDR yahooooo!!! We love this dinner show at FW.::yes:: :wave2:

Our fav. FW activity is driving around in the golf cart! We also love looking around in the trading posts, and stopping by Crockett's............Theres soooooooo much to do there, and we really love it all! We leave in about 8 1/2 weeks! Can't wait!!!:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

We leave in 24 days!! Can't wait. My kids love the pools and we also enjoy checking out the other campsites. The pony rides and petting zoo are great too. We like to spend a day at Blizzard Beach too.

Would there be enough to keep us busy for a 2 night stay before we head out for a cruise. We would not be going to the main parks but would spend an afternoon at the water park. We sold our camper a couple years ago but would rent a cabin. Thanks!

I think you could find plenty to do. There are pools, fishing, walking trails. You could do the hoop dee do or just eat at trails end. You could take a bus to downtown disney, take a ferry to one of the other MK resorts, watch the MK fireworks from the beach. There is a nightly water parade that is fun to watch. And don't forget the nightly campfire program and movie.

Have fun.

We go to the campgrounds quite often, and our two youngsters 4 & 2, really enjoy the playgrounds. There are seeral scattered around, and they are all different so the kids don't get bored with the same one all the time.:dance3:

We like going around and seeing all the different camping rigs. We enjoy the golf carts so much we bought our own.

I love to get up in the morning, get a cup of coffee and take a ride on my cart

Where exactly are the playgrounds? Although we've been to FW umpteen times, it was always just my husband and myself, so I never really paid any attention to the playgrounds. But in December we'll have our 23 month old granddauighter with us and we'll be checking out all of them. I know they have one near Crocket's Tavern but where are the others? Thanks.

If you get a site on the 300 loop, there's one at the entrance to that one. There's also a decent sized field beside it for running and cutting loose. (I'm looking at a map of Ft. Wilderness, for these: There's one beside the swimming pool, tennis court, sand volleyball area; right across the street from the 1500 loop, there's one at the entrance to the 1300 loop, I think that's all).

You asked about baby playpens a while back, did everything work out OK with that?

Thanks so much. I'm copying this and printing it out to bring with us.

We couldn't find a travel crib anywhere in the New Orleans area. The closest one was in Baton Rouge. So we wound up ordering one from Target and having it shipped to FW. It didn't get there until a day or two after our arrival and by the time it did arrive, we had come up with an alternate solution that was working pretty well. We set of the crib and decided it restricted our movement in the camper way too much so we packed it away in the van. At first I figured that was a totally wasted 90 something dollars, but we have used it many times since then and have really appreciated having it. :)

So true, and about the only other thing that is a must, besides going from playground to playground, is going to the beach at night to watch the fireworks and the boat parade.
