What are your favorite value resorts? We don't have kids.

I'm considering a moderate but the prices of the value resorts have also gained my attention.

Pop :goodvibes

We've stayed at the All stars a few times and had a great time/great experience, but once we tried Pop, we had no desire to return to the AllStar resorts. We also love AOfA, just not the LM rooms.

I like AofA and Pop. We go without kids (actually grandkids) at least half of the time, and last visit we had a lake front room at Pop and it was peaceful, quiet and really lovely overlooking the lake. The food court can be a bit hectic but we tend to go to parks early for rope drop, so miss the craziness. Aof A is really lots of fun too, love the theming, but the little mermaid rooms aren't discounted and are a ten minutes walk from the lobby and bus stop. You can easily walk back and forth between the resorts across the connecting bridge.

I like the All Stars. I really didn't like Pop. Lol..I know I'm in the minority on the boards. I really didn't like the one bus stop for a resort with 2,880 rooms and I just really didn't like the vibe. Of course, I was in a room with disco themed wall border and I really don't like disco.:duck: Of course, I think all the sections have the same decor now. And all that being said...I'd gladly go to Pop today if that were my only option.

The All Stars do share buses, but not always. At busier times they will have separate buses leaving the resorts. They are individually smaller and you have the option to walk between them to use the other food courts, pools, or bus stops. In fact in some cases you may be closer to another All Star main building/bus stop than the one you chose to stay at. I know that sounds weird, or maybe inconvenient, but it actually works out really well.

Well we both are HUGE sports fans so maybe that's an option

POP :hippie: and Sports :cheer2:

POP is more lush, has more greenery, has the lake view and some very quiet areas in the resort. No walk is very far (although I don't like the 80's and 90's), 3 pools with the two secondary a good size and the AoA food court is much better than most and a quick walk over. Good bus service and well located.

Sports, while surprising I would pick that theme has a newer food court, is a small footprint to walk from standard to main hub - say opposed to Music, is the first bus stop when sharing and the rooms are very fresh like they have been maintained well.

Booked Sports coming up next week and POP end of December.

I LOVE All-Star Sports(sentimental also-my first Resort),but a Hourglass Lake-view in 1950s Building 3 where you can see the lake and some of the fireworks from the room is hard to beat!

Hourglass Lake is so pretty especially at sunrise and sunset.:)

We stayed at POP last Dec for the first time, and were pleased. Depending on your priorities, you might want to pay a little extra for preferred to be close to front for food court and bus stop. DD and I thought it was worth it for refilling mugs, and for getting to buses in the morning, but even more do for shorter walk back at nt.! You can check threads for each on here for pics and info to help decide as well.

I've stayed at all the Values and will be returning to Sports in January. My favorite Value is Music.

  • I find the grounds to be more fully established than AoA or the other two Allstars, so very lush.
  • Music has been the quietest of the 5 Values I've stayed at. AoA was the noisest by far.
  • It has the least giant icon faces which is great because frankly they creep me out.
  • As it's the least appealing to kids it seems to attract more adults. (not that there are not kids there, there are but not as many as other stays that I've done with more of the Characters in the decorations)
  • Being the middle of the three resorts it's the easiest to walk over to visit another of the All Stars.
  • If you do share buses (it's not as common as people will say. I've had more dedicated buses than shared) it's the second stop so it's usually easy to find a seat.
  • If you are waiting on a Music bus and another All Star bus comes then being in the middle it's really easy to grab Sports or Movies and then walk to you resort from there.
  • Music is almost always one of the least expensive of the values (unless you choose a family suite but then it's cheaper to get a FS at Music than AoA)
  • I have consistently had better bus service at the All Stars then at AoA or Pop. (although never base a choice solely on buses. Buses are a crap shoot at any resort) With AoA and PoP being so large and only having the one bus stop I always had a line and most often had to wait for multiple buses. Sometimes they sent them one right after the other and sometimes not.
Hope you have a great trip.

Why not the LM room again?

The walk to the food court was just too far. We often spend time at our resort so we prefer to be closer to the food court. I also didn't love the blue colours in the room. It felt too dark and depressing.

We have stayed at All Stars, Pop, and Little Memaid rooms at AOA. We just returned from Pop and I feel like it is the nicest but the crowds kind of put us off a little. The bus lines are kind of insane. The Little Mermaid rooms were nice just far away. We booked All Star Music for a bounceback. I don't think you can go wrong with any of them I've liked them all.

We just returned from AoA and also walked over to Pop, so I can't give the most accurate comparison from the outside only (haven't seen a Pop room from the interior). But someone mentioned Pop is lush with trees. Yes! If this matters to you, it has mature landscaping and tons of quiet areas. We saw people reading on benches everywhere. At AoA, since its newer there are way fewer trees. Everything is clean and open. I also felt like the main pool at AoA was crazy all day long and there wasn't as many places to get away from noise. Both food courts are great and busy and messy. Just the nature of serving that many people. Like your school cafeteria. Gets it done but always packed. AoA has slightly more sophisticated food choices but really similar overall food setup. Also, since Pop is all standard rooms with one long window we saw more decorations. We could not find any fun windows at AoA. The suite buildings have two square windows. LM will be more like Pop.

I'm considering POP. It would just be my boyfriend and I

I like Pop, esp if you don't have kids. Once Pop opened I made the mistake of returning to one of the All Star resorts and regretted it, not because of the resort but because of some of the packs of teenagers (whose supervisors were worse than they were)... it those cases Pop's size and the way it was spread out was a good thing. lol

We've stayed at all three of the All-Stars resorts. In order of preference:

(1) All-Star Movies (our very first WDW trip so it's sentimental, but also the Toy Story section is very cool)
(2) All-Star Sports
(3) All-Star Music (put this as least favorite because if you end up in the Country section, you are REALLY far from the lobby - especially if it's raining ).

In all honesty, none of them are "bad". And ANY of the resorts that have a food court and areas where rooms are near the pool - it will be noisy at peak times. Rooms are plenty big for just two people. Buses were not any more crowded than when we stayed Moderate. If you are using your room to mainly shower and sleep - Value is a great way to go. If you do decide to go Moderate - POR is by far our favorite!

I used to love Music. I enjoyed it more than POR. With that said, my June 15 trip was my last at Music, and unless the place goes through a wholesale rebuilding, i doubt i will ever go back.

The rooms just feel like they are falling apart.

I guess it makes sense that the Allstars would be more rundown than most, as they have the highest occupancy rate of the Disney properties.

Kinda reminds me of hotracking back in my submariner days :)

I've since stayed at Pop and loved it enough that i am going back 7 months after my last stay there.

My vote for favorite is Pop.

We stayed at all values AoA hands down our favorite. We did have a car so transportation wasn't an issue. After that I would say ASSp and ASM followed by pop and the resort we will never return ASMo

I didn't care for Pop because it didn't seem very Disney-like to me. I don't want to hear contemporary radio music played while I'm in the bubble. I prefer All Stars.

All Star Movies was our first trip with our kids and we loved the Toy Story section. We went again a few years later and stayed in the Dalmatian section. If I was to stay at a Value again that would be my first choice. I have stayed at Pop and still prefer Movies.
