Ok i'm sure some of you read my post on the budget boards about how when we planed our trip we though we would just pack our lunches, eat in the room in for breakfast and dinner... well plans have changed and we are able to streach our a budget a little more! :) we don't really plan for sit down service b/c with 3 little ones age 5,3,1... it just doesn't seem worth the time.... We are thinking b'fast in the room, snacks most of the day and a mid afternoon lunch/dinner, then snacks in the room when we get home for the night. So what's your fav at each of the parks for counter service and which have seating in some AC! :goodvibes
These are the places i know we have eat before last year and were good/ok! At Mk we eat in tomorrowland somehere really big counterservice (cosmic rays mabye???), MGM we like to take DS to pizza planet, he gets a kick out of it (is there somwhere better with good size meals?) maybe we should do the 50's place that day, i was there about 8 years ago and enjoyed it but will the kids? the prices don't seem to bad? At Epcot we usally eat chinees food b/c of the size of the meals are HUGE and good! kids eat it too. any other suggestions for there... at AK the only place we eat was the mc donals place we would Love something eles for there!!!
We are thinking about $30-$50 a day for food in the parks... so what do ya think!!! We are going to be there the first week of sep will we find problems with getting in places b/c of this free dinning plan (i've got now clue what or how that works???) ?
thanks so much, this board is helping me so much with planing!

We will be there about the same time as you and are NOT taking advantage of the free dining as it wouldn't be an advantage for us so I, too, have wondered about how crowded the restaurants will be. I think with your plan to eat your one meal in the park mid-afternoon should work fine. We plan to do that too or else skip breakfast and have a very early lunch. I don't think the counter service places will be nearly as crowded as the sit down restaurants. I'm reluctant to recommend places to eat as the experience can be so varied but we have always enjoyed meals at Cosmic Ray's. My daughter led us to an area in the back that is quiet, cool, and relaxing which was great. We also like Tusker House in the AK. The food is quite good and inexpensive for WDW food. I hear good things about the hot dogs on Main Street in MK but have never eaten one. May try it this time if we can't get into a restaurant. I hope you get lots more responses from folks with more knowledge than I have. Have a great trip.

In MK we eat at Cosmic Rays in Tomorrowland & Pecos Bill in Adventureland. Pecos Bill has great burgers. I think I get a sandwich at Cosmic Rays. In MGM we always go to the Backlot. It's by Star Tours. I always order something different. In AK we go to the Flame Tree Barbeque. In Epcot we used to go to the food court in the Land, but now that they've changed it, it doesn't look like it has as much of a selection as it used to.

My favorite counter service in MK is Cosmic Ray's, in AK I like Flame Tree Barbecue. In Epcot I gotta have my fish n chips, not the best $ value, but good none the less.

I've never eaten at counter service at MGM because we usually do H & V Fantasmic Package and lunches at Prime Time & Sci-Fi.

Actually, I have eaten in the food court in the Land twice since they re-did it. If anything it actually has more choices than before. If you are looking at menus online, you are missing a lot, because in addition to the different stations where you order food, there are great grab and go options. I was upset when I heard they were changing it, but after eating there, my mind was changed. This is now my favorite CS at Epcot.

My favorite is Tangerine cafe, only because they have such unique offerings. Also, another vote for Pecos Bill's.
