Fav Apps for Droid

As Droid 2 comes with Android 2.2, you more than likely do NOT want to use a task killer. Android 2.2 changes how these tasks quit, and without getting too technical, you may be doing more harm than good.

Prior to Android 2.2, I agree task killers can help.

I've been running Android 2.2 for months without a task killer and see no impact to battery life by not using it.

Thanks for mentioning that. Will see how it goes before installing it. Phone will be here tomorrow before 3:00 (fed-ex overnight :dance3: )

The only phone that came with Android 2.2 installed is Droid 2. Other phones could have updated to 2.2 manually if you took very technical steps yourself, which most people probably haven't.

The only other way to get 2.2 is wait for it to magically appear on your phone. If you own Nexus One, that probably already happened. If you own an original Droid, that is happening this week and next week. Every other android phone out there will have to sit and wait. Droid X will update next month. Droid Incredible and Motorola Milestone within the next month or so. Everyone else doesn't have an official date, if it will come ever.

To check what version you have now, go to Settings, About Phone, Android Version.

I got the setting and about phone but could not find android version.
I have a samsung memory with sprint...... can you figure out if I have 2.2?

We just got these a month ago...... Thank you again.......:)

My DS18's phone just updated yesterday with 2.2 (original Droid--should he remove his app killer now?)

I don't have an "Android Version" either (Motorola) but I have a firmware version and it says 2.1-update 1.

It may say firmware version. It will be the last option in About Phone. After you get 2.2 it will say Android Version.

Only the Sprint Evo has 2.2 (which just started happening), all other Sprint phones do not have 2.2. Droid Incredible will start to get 2.2 on August 18th.

Once you get 2.2 remove task killers. You can also download Adobe flash to have flash websites working. You need to manually download it and install, it will appear in the market for download later this month. Also download Google Voice which lets you talk complex commands to your phone. Android 2.2 is required for flash and Google Voice.

My phone updated to the 2.2 Android version this morning. I have the Motorola. So what new goodies will it do for me?

So if I have the Evo, I don't want to to download the App Killer App?

Once you have upgraded to 2.2, you should try it without first. You should notice your phone is faster with 2.2. The task killer on 2.2 will kill tasks that immediately start up again, causing it to kill a task over and over. The phone will work extra hard and get noticeable hotter.

Okay, sense we're talking Androids here. I have a question. I have an LG Ally and when I play my music I can't find an end button on it. I have to go back to the main screen and use my ATK. I want to just stop it but all I can do is pause it. So anyone have a good idea of how to turn the music off without having to kill it?

TIA,
Daisy

I like the Kindle app which I am using until my real Kindle arrives.

I used iSyncr to get music from itunes onto the phone.

I love shazam! Its fabulous! ever hear a song and wonder what the name of it is or who sings it.. just open shazam and click tag.. and it will tell you everything!

Love google sky map!

advanced task killer.

What the doodle! the game!

Latitude.. shows you where people are! very cool!

Of course my E! news app!

LAPUTA.. its like "the kindle" free books.. cant beat it!

And "my days" to track my ovulation! LoL!

I just got a droid yesterday. It is through nextel, and because nextel has direct connect, there version is the old version of droid. Fine with me, as I have never had anything better than a bse phone in my life.
I am still learning alot and it's all so new. But the guy at the store told me to use the advanced killer thing.
Now for my question, when I get online or on an ap, I can't figure how to close it out. it keeps running after I go back to home. so how do I sign out of that ap or the interent without using task killer?

I just got an email and my Droid X will be here by Tuesday-my Blackberry now will not send any emails--I HATE that thing.
