Faulty Fingers

Hello Friends!
I know this really doesn't matter right now since we're back to using magic bands to get in the parks, but did anyone else, besides me, have trouble using finger ID? Every single park, every single time, a manager had to be called over to let me in because my finger ID didn't work (I always used the same finger, and never put lotion on, etc.). It was a running joke with my family patiently waiting beyond the security entrance! It's also a problem with my IPAD/IPHONE too! Any of you know why???

I had been doing the finger scan successfully for years, but in more recent years started having problems. The CMs always blamed me - I didn’t use a finger on the same side as my Magic Band (not sure what difference that makes), I pressed too hard, I didn’t press hard enough, I was using the wrong finger, etc. Once I scanned unsuccessfully at Epcot in the morning and a supervisor reset my finger scan. I went to MK that afternoon, scanned, and still no luck. The CM asked if I was sure I was using the correct finger. Having had my finger scan reset that morning I was absolutely sure I was using the correct finger! I hate those scanners. Another glitchy Disney system that no one there wants to admit is problematic. I never have a problem with the finger scan on my iPad.

Not at Disney, but definitely at Universal and anywhere else requiring a fingerprint scan.

EDIT: They sometimes say it can be an issue in colder weather and not enough blood flow. Not sure I believe that's my issue. Also, never use your thumb. It just has too much surface area to ensure that it is placed correctly every time. I use my index/pointing finger on my dominant hand, because it's the first finger I think of, mostly to wag at people being naughty :rotfl2:

My finger scans never work, ever. Then again, my fingers are always cold, blue and hardly register on anything, so I'm not surprised.

Yes. Every single time. I don't know why. I think I might be a cyborg.

Here's my routine whenever I enter a Disney park. It happens without fail:

Me: "These scanners never work for me."
CM: "Try it and see."
Light doesn't turn green.
CM: "Try it again."
Light doesn't turn green.
CM: "Try it again, and don't press down so hard on the scanner."
Lightly touch the scanner. Light doesn't turn green.
CM calls over another CM holding an iPad. iPad CM scans my MagicBand with the iPad.
iPad CM: "Try it now."
Light turns green.

I have this problem continuously. One time, for an internship, they had to take my prints in a scanner- one finger at a time, then the whole hand. It said the fingers didn’t match my full hand. I had to do it three times for it to match.

I carry my ID around for this reason. Occasionally I’ll have a ticket taker fight me on it and make it seem like it’s my fault. Then I’ll scan once... scan again eight there, and surprise, it doesn’t work. But at least they see that I did not change fingers on them!
