Hi everyone, I was wondering if you could help!

My sister works at WDW and we are visiting her in August. We’ll be staying on property but will be using her main gate pass and guest passes for entrance.

Generally speaking I know main gate only allows you to book fast passes 7 days in advance, but I was wondering if there was an exception if we’ve booked a disney resort hotel? Anyone know any tips or tricks on this to get the 60 day booking window?

If you possess other unused tockets you can link those to your My Disney Experience account along with your Disney's resort stay and book the fastpasses 60 days in advance.

The linked onsite reservation will open the FP window 60 days in advance of check-in for the Main Gate and Guest Passes.

The FPs need to be booked using the CM’s MDX account.

Yes, with a resort reservation you can book 60 days in advance. I will also add that you can book 7 days worth of fast passes on the main gate, but only 4 days of fast passes on the guest passes.

We usually attach extra tickets (if we have any) to the 3 people that will be using the guest passes. We then book fast passes for days 5+ under the peoples’ actual names. We then try to find a cm to transfer the fast passes to the guest passes as days 1-4 “drop off”. I hope that makes sense :)

Also, with the guest passes, you can’t use a magic band to tap into the ride. You need to use the actual credit-card-shaped guest passes.

Have fun!!

Just to clarify on the unused tickets - I don’t actually have any but is it worth buying some? If so how many tickets would I need? One day per person or more / less? And if I don’t use them I presume they just stay on my account? For how long?

Hi again :)

I'm not sure if it's worth buying tickets. But, if you did, you would need a minimum of one ticket per person that will be using the guest passes.

This is where I venture into clueless territory...we never buy tickets since my DH is a CM. We usually have a few complimentary tickets laying around that we attach to each of our "guests". Sorry, I'm sure a more ticket savvy person will chime in.

Thank you so much, I appreciate your advice!!

One more thing...sometimes we have to find a CM who knows how to transfer the fast passes from the individual peoples’ names to the guest passes. We’ve had CMs tell us it can’t be done when in actuality I’m guessing they just didn’t know how to do it. So stay persistent when looking for a knowledgeable CM.

Ah great, good to know!! Thank you so much! The 60 day window opens tomorrow so fingers crossed!!

CT Disney, I can’t seem to book anything today! I’m on my sister’s MDX but it’s only showing the next 7 days. I’ve linked my resort reservation to her account but her name isn’t actually on the reservation - is that the problem?

Yes it is.

Group your sister with an onsite person in your MDX and you can book FPs for her. Then in her MDX you should be able to ADD GUEST to add all the Guest Passes.

She’s linked to me in my family & friends list but is there a further way to group? And on my MDX I can’t seem to book any FPs because I don’t have any tickets. I’m stuck!!

Add an onsite person to the CM’s MDX account and link a comp ticket to that person. Then group onsite person with CM to open the FP window and book.

Another easier way is to change out names in your room reservation. Sub in the CM for any onsite person. CM could have booked a discounted room for you.

So, I’ve been on the phone for over an hour with the help desk and they’ve concluded that the rules have recently changed and that the 60 day benefit now only applies if the cast member is actually booked into the room!

I called reservations to change my husband’s name on the booking to my sister but then she said it would mess with our magical express - that he wouldn’t be offered a seat.

She mentioned that I might be able to add my sister on, then book the fast passes. And then just take her off before the 7 day cancellation policy. I’m wondering if we’ll lose the fast passes then? Anyone have any ideas?

I’d change names and have your sister pick you up at the airport. That’s the easiest way to do it.

CM can share your 60-day window if you linked comp tickets to an onsite person. I share another Mod’s 60-day and 30-day window with my CM friend and the window always opens for her. The CM gave you incorrect info.

Did you ask the CM to check resorts with CM rates? They are 50% off when the CM is included in the reservation.

Yes I see - the problem is that we don’t have any comp tickets!! Wish I could find some to link up, that would solve all problems!

And yes, luckily we booked with CM rates - great perk!

Although we only got family and friends rates as we didn’t include her on the reservation.

You may want to have her check for CM rates with her included in the room and book a new reservation. Then the 60- day window applies to her MainGate and Guest Passes.

What also would work is if any friends let her link Comp Tickets to you just to open FP booking. You’d only be using the data not the tickets. The tickets can be reassigned back to the original owner.
