OK - so we're going Memorial Day weekend and while I typically use RideMax I'm considering making my own plan this time. My understanding is that the first three fastpasses I should obtain are:

Space
Splash
Indy

Other FPs will be available throughout the day, but these will likely run out at some point (especially, Indy).

Query: What order should I get the three in? I usually see it in the order I listed above, but am wondering why one would not start with Indy.

Thoughts?

Space FP is always first. On hot days Splash is next in popularity. On cool days it is Indy. For you in late May it will thus be Space, Splash then Indy. :wizard:

Just my experience that even in the summer, Space Mountain's FPs run out first. With fair cause, IMO (it's my favorite ride in the parks :) ).

I'm not certain if Splash Mountain's FPs actually run out second or not, but if you want to get a decent return time you have to go quickly. (It's probably not very logical to get a Splash Mountain FP at 11 AM with a return time of 11 PM, since in my experience, the line is almost always fairly low that late, even in the summer. So technically the later times may not move quite so quickly, but then, they may be neither desirable nor necessary late at night.)

I believe Indy FPs last longer than Space Mountain FPs, though that might be a capacity issue, and/or more Indy FPs may be issued (or not). I am not certain it reflects popularity. But it does mean you have a little more time to grab them.

In short, my proposed order matches HydroGuy's. :)

Myself, I like grabbing Indy first. Because it is the closest to the gate.

We do Indy, Splash, Space, BLAB, the on from there. I some times will head to DCA and grab Soarin and ToT while others are playing in Fantasyland. Wet rides are more fun during the summer, but the lines are also much longer.

So can you have a fast pass that isnt ready to use yet in DL and then go into the DCA and get a FP for one of their rides right away? :confused3

I am totally with you!

I'm with Hydroguy for a couple of reasons.

When we get there, we like to get off to a roarin start with a spin on Space, so we get fast passes, ride it, and then our window is open again, so we go to buzz, grab fast passes, then head over through adventure land, usually ride big thunder, go to Indy grab Indy passes, ride it if possible, head to splash, ride it, grab fast passes as possible, then usually hit mansion, and/or pirates, circling round to big thunder for a set of fast passes. During this time, oftentimes someone will head over to California Adventure and grab a set of something. Usually Screamin, cause that's the way we roll!

The problem with going to Indy first is that they seem to have issues getting that side going on time. I have hiked over there too many times to count, and not been able to get a fast pass, and then my entire strategy gets thrown off track.

I have been during some of the busiest seasons, and this strategy works great, as long as you are there at park opening.

Yet to have that problem. Space is 1/2 want to, half don't ride for this family. Makes a couple people very nauseated, not the way for us to start the day.

DL's and DCA's FP "networks" are not connected, so you can get a FP at one park, walk to the other park, and get another FP right away. :thumbsup2

Wear comfortable shoes because collecting FPs at both parks requires a lot of walking. But it can be done. :upsidedow

Here's a good thread:

:goodvibes Thanks for the answers about DL/DCA fastpasses not being linked. In all my trips I always thought I had to wait till the window opened based off my fastpass at DL. :confused3

We will have to try this out but I dont think I will go park hopping just to get the FP's and go back to a park, but then again who knows....I am known to get crazed out for things once the bug hits me. :hyper:

Here are some suggestions of times when the parkhopping for FPs works best - at least for me:

1. When my family wants to shop - I leave them on Main Street for 20+ minutes and head over to DCA to grab FPs

2. When my kids want to ride some I do not want to ride - which for me means Star Tours. It makes me sick. So I encourage them ride ST in the morning when DCA opens and I used that time to grab FPs at DCA (and usually DL too)

3. Waiting for parades - they grab a spot and I hop to the opposite park to grab FPs.

4. Entering or leaving DL - if we are having lunch in DTD say at Rainforest Cafe, we leave DL and I send the crew over to RFC to get a table and some air conditioning and I hop quickly into DCA to grab some FPs. Then I use the GCH exit from DCA as a shortcut into DTD.

Ok everyone...I have a fairly stupid question but please...bear with me...

It's been awhile since I've actually used the FP system. Usually we go with my sister, who's in an electric wheelchair and we just go through the handicapped enterances to most rides. Typically the exits. On trips without her, I've usually gone off season and wait times have been no issue. Seems silly to grab a FP when the wait time is under 10 mins.:confused3

Anyways, here's my stupid question. Can you grab more then one FP at a time?? I know that I have to come back during the time listed on the FP or wait until after the time has expired. And thanks to this thread, now I know that I can grab a FP at both DL and DCA without having to wait for the elapsed time. However, if I'm at DL could I grab a FP for Splash and Indy using the same park ticket??

I read on another website that at GRR in DCA you can actually get more then one FP. Not sure if this is just for this one ride or if you could get GRR and say, Soarin? Is this even true??

We are going Memorial Weekend just like the OP and I'm getting a little worried since this is the first time in a VERY long time that I anticipate using FP and me without my awesome sister!:cool1:

No. Let's take a hypothetical situation.

A) Say, at 9:30AM you grab a Space FP with a return time of 11:00AM-12:00PM. You cannot use that ticket to grab another FP at DL park until at least 11:00AM.

B) Say that you wait a little longer and grab the Space FP at noon. However, by then the return time is 4:00PM-5:00PM. Since the return time is more than 2 hours away, you would be able to grab another FP at DL at 2:00PM; 2 hours after getting the original FP.

The rule is that you can grab another FP within the same park when the current FP window opens OR 2 hours after obtaining the first FP, whichever comes first. If this is all still confusing, the actual FP will say at the bottom the exact time that you can get another FP. :thumbsup2

Also what you heard about GRR used to be true, however it is no longer. It is still possible to do this trick with Roger Rabbit's Cartoon Spin. RRCtS is the only ride where you can get a FP for it even immediately after getting a FP for a different ride. So if you got that Space FP at noon, you could walk over to RRCtS and get a FP at 12:05 and it would not be a problem.

I highly recommend you get RideMax. It sounds perfect for you. Enjoy and maybe I'll see you there!

DLR29 is 100% correct. The confusion I think is how often you can get FPs vs. how many you can hold at one time. You can get new FPs every 40-120 minutes. But there is no limit to how many you can hold at one time.
