Fastpass. The more I read the more confused I get

We recently purchased Season Passes and will be park hopping for the first time. I've been reading the FAQ thread but still have a few questions. Here's my scenario.

We currently have 2 FP booked for Animal Kingdom. A 9:10am for EE and a 10:40am for FOP. We plan on being at the park for opening and heading straight to Everest. I planned on booking my 3rd FP at MK after we scanned at Everest but if there's little or no wait at Everest will I be able to cancel the EE FP and pick something in MK as soon as I cancel? If I do that will I still be able to make that unused 3rd FP selection in MK at the same time or will I have to wait until I scan at FOP?

Hopefully this makes some sense. I think I just made myself even more confused!

No. You have to USE 1 FP in AK, FoP, and book 2 MK FPs while in the FoP FP line.

Thanks for the quick reply. Would you suggest canceling EE considering the wait should be limited and booking 2 FP at MK once I scan at FOP?

You can keep the FP and if Standby is minimal, enter the EE Standby line and Cancel EE. The timing of the Canceling isn’t crucial...it just needs to be done before you enter FoP’s line so that you can immediately book 2 FPs for MK.

Since you’re EE FP is before your FOP FP, I don’t think you’ll have anything to gain by canceling it. Then if you happen to be a little behind the crowds, you can skip any kind of line at EE.

The only thing I can say is that you're going to love FoP. We just came back (using FP+) and loved, loved, loved it. By far the best ride everyone in our family has ever been on. Enjoy!

I have a question for the orginal OP - if I buy an annual pass online, can I get fastpasses for when I am planning to go to WDW when my window opens, or do I need to go to WDW and activate the passes first?

Link your voucher confirmation number in your MDX account and it will open your FP Booking Window. Activate your Annual Pass when you reach WDW and plan to enter a park for the first time.

I always thought the initial 3 FP+ had to be done at the same park and you can only make the 4th one forward at a second park

No; the FP system changed last year.
