FASTPASS strategies and rules

Okay, I have only visited WDW once with the new Fast Pass+ system. Now, I understand that you can reserve 3 fast passes at a time (1 "tier 1" and 2 "tier 2"), however, is that the only 3 I can receive that day. Can I get more? How?
