FastPass Questions

I'm starting to look closer at the FastPass attractions and have a few questions.

  1. Where is the FastPass machine located for WOC? At one point I read Grizzly River Run, and I also see near Little Mermaid ride. Both DCA but different locations.
  2. Are FastPass machines generally at the entrance of the rides that have them? What are the exceptions?
  3. I assume that FP tickets are by person (i.e. ticket). My DS loves Splash Mountain and Star Tours but my DD doesn't like either. So in this case we split up our FP right?
  4. Which FastPasses are good to grab first thing as they run out? We have 4 park days and so am thinking of grabbing one of these first for each of our days: Day 1- Indiana Jones, Day 2 - Soarin (and WOC), Day 3 - Radiator Springs, Day 4 - Big Thunder. (As of now, I don't think our kids are interested in Space Mountain or Tower of Terror)

1. It's definitely close to Grizzly River Run. Basically right outside the DCA/GCH entrance. (Edit: Looks like this is no longer correct - Sorry! see the next post for more info.)
2. RSR is a big exception -- the FP machines for that are located near the It's Tough to be a Bug theater.
3. Yes, it is per person.
4. RSR and Hyperspace Mountain are probably the only two that are in danger of running out really early at this point. Toy Story Midway Mania might be added to that list when it starts (which could be as soon as tomorrow if rumors are to be believed).

Last week, the fastpass machines for WOC were by the Little Mermaid. There was a sign by Grizzly Rapids stating that WOC fast passes have move to the Little mermaid. There were also CMs standing there to help direct people.

I didn't see that, sorry. I've edited my post.

WOC was still near Little Mermaid (on the path headed towards Grizzly Rapids) as of this past weekend. They are in mobile carts.

You will definitely want to get RSR fastpasses early, they go very fast and the standby line is almost always long. If you want to want to ride RSR twice, I'd hit standby first thing and then grab FP's for later in the evening.

Over at DL, Hyperspace Mountain also goes fast, followed by Indy.

As others have said, they were using the mobile FP carts for WoC last weekend. The carts were in the walkway leading from GRR to the Little Mermaid, opposite of the bathrooms.

Along with RSR, Star Tour's FP is not right at the attraction entrance. It's across the walkway, over by the exit to Buzz Lightyear. They've split up the queue for Buzz and Star Tours, so make sure you get in the correct queue. The Splash Mtn FP machines are located next to the Briar Patch store, which along the walkway to the entrance to Splash.

Thank you. Am taking notes of the above.

Good idea too to grab FP for Radiator Springs first thing and then get in line to ride it on stand by.

Need to decide whether to make one of our morning entries (one of which will be early morning) for stand by of Peter Pan, which I understand gets very long. Any Fast Pass machines near PP?

Regarding Peter Pan...yes, that line gets long quickly and then seems to hold fairly steady (in the 45 to 60 minute range). Personally, I would plan on Peter Pan, but if you get there and find the line is already long (>30 minutes), I would spend the Magic Morning riding the other attractions in Fantasyland that might not have as long of a wait during the MM (I'd especially check Alice because that one seems to also build up a long line). Then I'd ride Peter Pan later in the day when everything has lines.

Not as of right now. Rumor has it that PP is getting FP, but nothing concrete, nor any timeframe for it happening.

Thanks. Looking at the map, maybe on our Magic Morning, we
  • send DH grab FP for Big Thunder (since it's "sortuv" on the way)
  • the rest of us go to Peter Pan....and as you say if a long wait, then skip it and head to Alice
  • DH meet us at PP or Alice (we won't have a data plan so he'll need to just look for us)
Let me know if any other suggestions.

Unless something has changed recently, I don't think you can pull FP during magic morning. Also, only fantasyland and tomorrowland will be open, so he won't be able to get to Big Thunder. So just enjoy the magic morning together and then send him for FP at regular opening time.

You cannot get FPs during MM. The machines don't open until regular park hours.

Since you have a kid who loves Star Tours, I would make that one of my FP options first thing, instead of Big Thunder since the Star Tours line will get much longer than the Big Thunder line will later in the day.

You're best off all going to PP first, and detouring to Alice if the line at PP is already long. No point sending your DH anywhere else, as FPs aren't available as has been mentioned. Nor do you need FP for BTMRR first thing after regular park opening - it should be a walkon or close to it for a while.

Yes...from our WDW trip my DS loved Star Tours and Splash Mountain was his very favourite they are on the FP list (but for a second FP). Ok...so I've now marked Star Tours as one of our initial FPs in place of Big Thunder. This is why I love this site. So helpful and things i wouldn't know otherwise! I do have touring plans subscription which i'll plug in to see what it suggests too (but not realtime)

One thing I noticed on my trip last week is that some of the rides with fast pass were down a lot while I was there. This resulted in huge fast pass lines later in the day, in particular for Splash Mountain and RSR since they honored all of the fast passes from the times that the rides were down. I had an 8:50 pm RSR fast pass, and the fast pass line was directed to the usual stand by line location b/c it was longer than the stand by line, which had been moved to the fast pass line location. Wish I'd known ahead of time how long they were b/c I would have gotten in either single rider of stand by instead.

It doesn't look like anyone has mentioned that Tower of Terror is no more. It is switching to Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout, but there's no official opening date for it yet that i'm aware of. Just thought I'd mention it in case your kids changed there mind on wanting to ride it.
