Fastpass question

A few quick questions...my college son going in March. His Fastpass day is this week. Everything is linked and Magic Bands ordered. Last time we went we were CL so I didn't have to be online to choose our FPs as we did CL extra program.

1. It starts at 7AM est correct? I know one time it let me do a day early- does that still happen?

2. Sometimes it shows the tickets linked on MDE and other times it doesn't - what do I need to do to ensure they show up that morning or is it just the Disney website acting up?

3. If tickets aren't showing as linked how can I remedy on my own-

4. They are going for a week and it is during mid-March spring break. My son has done FOP numerous times but what is going to be the best day to try and get (They go M-F). I am assuming that is going to be the day to start with and then do others. Also is Slinky Dog still hard.

They are prepared to go to FOP close to park closing if they don't get a FP or get there early and do the fast walk right at park opening (told him to arrive about an hour early if no FP).

We are going March 8-15, just made my fastpasses this morning. I was able to get FOP on Monday, March 11 (60+3 for me) for 3 at 11:20am. I got SDD for Tuesday, March 12 (60+4) at 10:50am and there was actually an earlier time available but it conflicted with our ADR. I was shocked that I was able to get these on my first try based on what I've read and because we're suppose to have high crowds, but I guess it is possible (I refreshed at exactly 7am & worked quickly to have both within ~20 seconds I think, maybe that helped).

I didn't attempt any earlier dates, but looked at Wednesday (60+5) and Thursday (60+6) at about 7:30am and both dates still had lots of availability for FOP & SDD.

We arrive the same day and was surprised how smoothly FP+ selection went this AM. Maybe because we are a Friday arrival there aren't as many people trying to book. I also was able to get FOP on Monday at 1:00pm (60+3), SDD on Sunday at 5:20pm (60+2) and SDMT for Saturday at 3:50pm (60+1).

Spring Break can be very crowded. Not Christmas crowded, but close.
Go in expecting a crowd. Anything less is a bonus.
Also, the day of getting FPs, expect MDE to act up. Try several browsers or a computer and iPad or phone app to get your FPs. iF MDE is working that morning, its a bonus. There are numerous threads about MDE acting up while trying to book FPs.

FoP at 60+4 and similar for SDD are not too difficult. Earlier in your trip, FPs being available are rare.
