Fastpass question

This is new for me, so I'm not actually sure of the answer. It's more of a "show" question. My mother is in a wheelchair due to a stroke. We are going over the Christmas period. Does she need a fastpass for shows that offer it, like Indiana Jones, or Little Mermaid, etc.? I know that they have special seating for the handicapped, but I'm thinking that a fastpass is still advisable as there is only so much handicapped seating available, and if she doesn't have one, she could be turned away if they end up being full. Opinions?

If the show offers fastpass it may help having one.

Don't forget that most of the lines are mainstreamed, so you would wait in the regular line with the wheelchair.

The problem is some shows have limited capability for wheelchairs. Especially the 3D movies and American Advenure where there are spaces for wheelchairs/ECVs with seating on either side of them for members of the party. I have gone to ITTBAB and had to wait until the next show while people not in chairs/ECVs were still being let in.

It's Tough To Be A Bug. It's a 3D show in Animal Kingdom.

We do get Fastpass for Little Mermaid because there are not that many wheelchair spots and the standby wait can get kind of long. With Fastpasses, if they are already filled for the first show after your Fastpass time, you will get into the next show.
We have never gotten Fastpasses for Indiana Jones because there are a huge number of seats in that theater and there are quite a few wheelchair spots.

You didn't mention how big your party is, but in general, WDW considers a wheelchair party to be a total of 6 (5 plus the person using the wheelchair). If your party is bigger than 6, Fastpass is the only way to make sure your whole party gets in at the same time. Most of the big shows with lots of seats in the theater don't have Faspasses.
