Fastpass question- is this possible?

I have not pre-planned for this situation, but since it has come up, I wonder if I can take advantage of it.
I have an 8 night reservation for OKW in December. I will have to cancel the first 3 nights (I haven't cancelled them yet). I will buy 4-day tickets online and link them to my room. The tickets can be used from the 1st day of my reservation until the last day (any 4 days).
I can make fastpass selections starting with the 1st day of my reservation. (60 days out) . Can I go online the 1st day I can make fastpasses, and just make them for the last 4 days of my stay- then later call and cancel the first 3 nights of my stay? Will this mess up the fastpasses that I made? It seems that I am getting a 3 day advantage doing this. Is it okay? (Kinda like walking a fastpass-)

My understanding is they have changed the rules and if you do that, then FPS booked using a reservation later canceled or modified would cancel out them.

In your case, since it’s a modification and the reservation number would be the same, it possible they would not be. If it were me, I’d not chance it and just book when your true reservation will begin.

I think you would need to wait until 60 days out from the 4th day to cancel the 1st 3 days.
In June I had fastpasses for a reservation that I had booked with one of my two membership numbers. About a month and a half out from the trip (after I booked my fastpasses) I realized the room I had was still available so I decided to rebook it with points in my other membership number, and I cancelled the original reservation. I received an email saying that since I cancelled my resort reservation my fastpasses would be cancelled in 3 days if I didn't rebook a new reservation. I just had to add the new reservation number and it wasn't an issue.
I would guess that since the reservation number is the same and you will have a reservation for the time you have fastpasses it will work out, but I would wait until 60 days out from the 4th day to cancel the first 3 days.
