We are DW veterans, always collecting FP's during day and using them whenever we wanted. With the changes made, what are your planning suggestions for us to make the most of FP?

Thanks.

If you have the option, use an app like Disney Mobile Magic to see what the FP return windows are before you trek to the attraction. Saves a goodly amount of walking.

Other than that, just make sure before you pull them that they don't conflict with ADRs, other FPs, or other plans you may have.

I would say that the best strategy for FPing now is to ensure that you check the return time on the kiosk before pulling the pass, and then, when the time comes, use the pass.

Otherwise, enjoy Disney.

I'm about to make my first trip since enforcement began. I plan to rely on good old fashioned Jedi mind tricks ("This fastpass is NOT expired!" *crazyeyes at the CM*).

I'll let you know how it goes.

aaahhhh...the good old days how i miss them. now we mainly hit rides that tend to run out of fp's or quickly have long stand by lines first thing in the morning and make sure we get our next fp when the next one is available other than that now you just really have to watch the return times to make certain they don't interfere with adr's etc...

Good luck with that. Why would an exception be made for one guest? :confused3

How weird - you typed word for word that first sentence -that went through my mind when I read the post.

I wouldn't count on it working. We also used to collect FPs and much as it may mean changing our strategy, we're taking it as a challenge rather than a setback. We don't mind running from one side of the park to the other to collect them, so it may just mean more legwork to get to our attractions within our return window.

It is what it is so we can let it worry us - or just roll with it. We're going to do the latter :thumbsup2

Ok, what have I missed? How have fastpasses changed? :confused3

The FP's themselves have not changed.

The difference now is that guests must use them within the one-hour "Return Window" that's printed on the FP.

Before, a WDW FP was good for use any time after the earliest time printed in the Return Window... for the rest of the day on which it was issued.

A Disneyland FP still has that "open-ended" time enforcement, even though
WDW has changed that policy.

Ah ok. I normally returned within that window anyway to be honest. Thanks :)

LOL! :rotfl:

OP..... best plan is to schedule your trip for the slowest time of year you can find. Hit rope drop to speed through as many headliners as possible, then slow down and use FPs only when you have to.

Oh, and adjust your expectations. I'm preparing myself to just ride our favorite rides a few less times.

Jedi does not use power for personal gain, you, my friend was corrupted by dark side.

:darth:

If at least two posters feel like I am *legitimately planning to use Jedi mind tricks* in order to play the FP game, then obviously my humor gland is blocked and backing up into my gall bladder.

Hi dyw4ua. Danny, Brian and Reid welcome you to the TPAS DIS board :wave2:

We are a friendly and knowledgeable bunch here so please join in on any other thread or if you have a number of questions then just start a new thread :goodvibes

If you have not had a look yet the DIS posting guidelines can be found here.

Have a look at TouringPlans here regarding fastpass strategies.

humor bypass can be common when such serious issues are being discussed.

don't worry the Jedis amongst us understood and had a laugh

Lets keep the thread on topic folks :thumbsup2
Discussion about Jedi's are best kept for Star Wars Weekend threads or other Lucas fanboy hangouts :)

I was an FP collector myself, but in my last two trips to WDW - both during busy times - I found that the new system worked better for me than the last. Mostly because the wait for the ride window is now much closer to the time you pulled the FP than it used to be. So when I went to an area of the park and got the FP, I could use it before I left that area of the park. I was really surprised by the difference it made. There is still the Soarin and Toy FPs that are a problem, but the rest seem to have much earlier return times than before. I found that if I showed up for rope drop I could do everything I wanted without a problem.... very nice!
