FASTPASS - Offsite vs. Onsite - Policy change?

A few months ago, I read here that Disney was considering a policy change which would make Fastpass available ONLY to guests staying onsite. Is anyone aware of the latest info on this?

We are considering an offsite stay this time - not too crazy about the idea - and if we would lose Fastpass, I don't think we would do it. Thanks.

A good rule of thumb:
IGNORE ALL RUMORS.

Nothing has changed in regard to FP.

There hasn't been any news to that respect lately. I personally doubt they would do this. If anything, I could see them bringing some kind of enhanced FP for those at the luxury hotels but I don't think they'd get rid of FP for every guest.

They definitely have not changed this at all. We stayed offsite last month and will doing that again for Thanksgiving and will be able to get all the Fast Passes we want.

The source of the rumor might be a couple paragraphs in the Unofficial Guide. Apparently Disney's patent on Fastpass includes options for preferred/more Fastpasses for resort guests, including the ability to designate how frequently you can get them according to resort type (moderate, deluxe, etc.).

Disney doesn't do any of this now, though, and just because they registered it in the patent doesn't mean they ever plan to do it.
