Fastpass mystery

I just find it so very interesting that no one on DIS believes anything a cast member says, and we can add news stations to the list of sources that various DIS members feel are not credible. So... who would have to tell you all something in order for you to believe it? Just curious....

Because we all know that calling Disney 3 different times results in 3 different answers! ;)

There's no "official answer" line to WDW or DL as far as I've ever found - just the opinion of the CM you reach, who may actually be nowhere near the park and far less knowledgeable than these forums!
You can call 714-781-4000 and get a Disneyland CM. They are based AT Disneyland. They can answer questions --- or transfer you to someone who can. Why would you feel that a person who works somewhere is less informed than people who do not? I just don't get that thought process. Now, do they make mistakes? Well, if they are human, yeah, probably. Do they possibly know information that they are not yet privy to share? Probably. However, there is a place to call for information if you want to do so.

Or you could get a CM at Disneyland who doesn't believe in the enforcement and lets you use it regardless. Or you could get a CM who believes what's good for WDW is good for DLR and enforces it on his/her own.

Disneyland is consistently inconsistent.
I highly doubt a CM would just start enforcing some random rule on their own. Disney is way to stringent and that would not be tolerated. Heck, you couldn't even have a beard and work there for 50 years, I don't think making up policies would go very far.

I wrote to DLR explaining I was planning a trip for April (spring break) adn I was wondering about the FP enforcement. I received the generic "How to use FP." I responded with the following:

Thank you for your response. However, it did not answer my question.
In the past, we have been allowed to use our fastpass tickets anytime
after the begin time. (Example, begin time is 1230pm, we could use it
even at 930pm.) Since WDW went to the "No late arrivals", I am
trying to plan my next trip and would like to know if Disneyland will
begin enforcing the time on the passes. It is fine by me, I would
just like to know for planning.

I received the following this morning:

Dear XXXXXX,

Thank you for your e-mail to the DISNEYLAND® Resort.

Unfortunately, we will be enforcing the time of your return when using
the FASTPASS. We apologize for any disappointment this may cause you and
your family.

Again, thank you for taking the time to write. We hope you will have the
opportunity to visit the DISNEYLAND® Resort soon and trust your visit
will be pleasant in all regards.

That clarifies it for me, now to hear some actual accounts of this happening!

FWIW, I would be curious what answer you would get if you asked the same folks how many Magic Mornings you will get if you were to stay at a Disney hotel and bought a five day parkhopper ticket. Would they would tell you the standard line (only one MM) or the real story (every day it is offered)?

Since it is a "temporary perk", I would expect to be told 1. But I love to write letters, so let me find out.....

The Disney forums are filled with 'statement of facts' from CMs that are not true. The media has always confused Disneyland & Disney World and have assumed they are the same.

So... who would have to tell you all something in order for you to believe it? Just curious....

When the CM internal manual for Fastpasses changes someone will post a picture of it.

Disney World publicly stated about 6 months ago the rules would change. CMs at Disney World have been warning guests that used late FPs that the rules were changing.

None of that happened at Disneyland.

I will believe it when someone posts a photo of a DLR FP with the new wording on it. :)

Love this :)

I love people who love to write letters.

Thank you so much for your reply.

I hope you don't mind if I ask another question. We have been
contemplating booking at the DL Hotel for our next trip. Usually,
Magic Mornings are offered Tues, Thurs, Sat, and Sunday. If we are
staying there Monday through Friday, can we use Magic Mornings on both
Tues and Thurs, since we would be guests of the hotel?

Thank you so much for your help in our planning!

Thanks for the doing that. Nice to know they are telling the real story about MM now!

This. :thumbsup2

Honestly, I won't believe it until I experience it or someone returns with a first-hand account.

Well, I'm here with a firsthand account...Disneyland is... NOT enforcing the FastPass return time window! We got here late on Sunday and used our first FPs yesterday. We tested the waters with Star Tours, using a FP about an hour after it expired. No problems at all (as usual). We used them late again at ST twice later in the day also, and at BTMRR (8 hours late :rolleyes1) and Indy as well. I also used a ToT FP late today.

I think I used one 10 hours late on Sunday Lol!

The local LA station KTLA ch. 5 morning news just ran a story saying that Disneyland WILL start enforcing the Fastpass return time. They didn't give a start date. I am bummed, but will still use Fastpass whenever I can.

My son works in Tomorrowland attractions and he says that they will start to enforce the times a little more in the near future. (although he is vague as to when, but they have talked about it in meetings) Its a little like having a dinner reservation for 7:30 and then showing up at 9 and expecting a table. The point of the fastpass is to facilitate a shorter wait and smoother operations - there will always be the exception to the rule, but I don't see why people can't be expected to "try" to work within the system.

Thanks for sharing this, CMHusband. Unfortunately, 90% of the people here on DIS will now tell you that just because a CM said it, it does not mean a thing and that they don't believe anything a CM tells them, and that CM's like to make things up. :confused3:confused::sad2:

Thanks again for sharing,

Really? 90%?

Agreed...this is an extreme statement.

I am so intrigued by the continued and intense attention paid to this issue. I don't think anyone who uses late FPs is doing anything wrong; one of the benefits of being an informed park attendee (such as those of us who pay attention to these forums) is learning about the little ins and outs, and the "unofficial" SOPs. I think this is what the majority of DISers are referring to; not that the CMs don't know what they are doing or saying, but that sometimes official policies are overlooked, directly or indirectly, in the name of customer experience. Secondly, has anyone ever had a job during which the issues discussed during meetings always come to fruition? Sometimes, hearing about things that may or may not be a part of the inner workings of DL can be misleading. It is not the CMs fault, it is just the natural course of business that some ideas move from concept to realization and some do not.

When we begin to hear on a regular basis that DISers are being turned away from FPs return lines because their passes are expired, that is when I will worry. :thumbsup2

KGW news in Portland, Oregon just reported that FastPass return times will now be enforced, such a bummer. :sad2:

LOL! Was it the broadcast with Reggie Aqui confessing that he is one of the one's that uses the fast passes late? I laughed that he would confess.

:wave2: from Canby.

I was there this past weekend (Fri/Sat/Sun) and all 3 days they were accepting FPs way after the expiration time, without a second glance.
