Fastpass is a great thing and saved us loads of time queueing but I have a moan about it. Often we would get to the fastpass entrance and find it packed with people all waiting for their time slot, having arrived say 10 minutes before. Some of the staff were good and sent them to the sides so others could get through but sometimes it was awful, especially around the Peter Pan ride. We could see that they all had the wrong times so went around the side, we were allowed through but then someone acused me of queue jumping, which I wasnt. Has anyone else found this ? I think they should train their staff to always keep a path through for those arriving with the correct time tickets.

We had a similar experience at BTM and had to "mossie" our way through the crowd :)

I've never noticed this at WDW, but have heard it mentioned now several times at DLRP. How do you know whether to queue up in this FP line or go around? Do you just wait to see if it's moving? I would have assumed walking up that the FP line was just backed up.

Yes, we saw this at TOT. We didn't want to queue jump so went around the queue to the CM and showed our FP cards and when he saw the time on them he waved us through.

We could see that everyone was showing their tickets at the front and were being turned away, but werent actually moving out of the way, at first we thought there was a problem with the ride but then we realised what was happening.

We also experienced that many guests take a FP and then go straight to the FP entrance and wonder if the CM sends them away.

We also have experienced this:
Lets say it is 11am and the waiting line for BTM is 30 minutes. And the FP is for 11:30 - 12:00. We have seen that many guests take the FP in this situation and wait 30 minutes next to the FP entrance instead of using this time for something else.
If I would be in this situation I would use the general entrance and see the beautiful themed waiting line instead of waiting next to the FP entrance. Or I would use this 30 minutes to go to another attraction or explore some shops.

We noticed this when we were there in 2005. When we saw that folks were just waiting there blocking the way, we just took our fastpass tickets, and kept saying "pardon" and "excuse moi" as we elbowed our way to the front and showed them to the CM.

It happens at WDW, too. But the CMs do usually have the crowd leave a pathway open.

You can tell the difference, it's just people hanging around the fastpass entrance rather than an orderly queue. We've often come across this at BTM and we always go up to the CM like hildasmuriel did, once people see he's waved you through they will realise you're not queue jumping!

When my mate and I went to Disney at Anaheim we had a fastpass for Splash Mountain and were directed to the fast pass line at our time but the line was next to the regular queue and as we walked along we were yelled at, jeered for queue jumping etc, it got so bad we went back rather upset and the CM that let us through wondered what was up. We explained what had happened and he escorted us through the fast pass line but have to say it spoilt the ride really. It was our first time experiencing fast pass and we thought you would just be shown to another entrance and hop on quite quickly. CM must have said something to someone cos as we got off the ride we were pointed out and a Disney official asked us if were okay and gave us some fastpass tickets for other rides and said they would look into it and apologised for the distress caused! Have to say I am wary of using Fast Pass now but I haven't had any incidents since that one.

That doesn't sound good - must admit I am quite worried about using the FP i the crowds and stuff gather outside the ride waiting for their times - will have to be really diplomatic but forceful to get past them if they are waiting for their times and not actually waiting for the ride (not something the majority of us Brits do very well) !
