Fastpass ethics...

I'm truly curious how people feel about this. We are a family of 4. I made the same fastpass selections across the board for our entire family. Our younger daughter tends to not like roller coasters. Sometimes she'll go, and sometimes she won't. Is it considered wrong if DH takes older daughter on say, BTMR... and then I take her on it a second time using younger daughter's magic band?

I have no issue with that. I think many people do exactly that. They make FP+ for everyone.....little kids, elderly grandparents. Then, since these groups of people most likely don't do the more intense attractions, someone else uses their MB, with no problem.

That's fine.

I'm usually on the "stricter" side in my opinions, but in this case I think it's a legitimate FP belonging to someone who used their ticket to get in the park and is willing to give it up to another family member. Swapping bands is perfectly fine. CMs recommended that my family do this when they'd see our group approach a ride and some in our group shy away from riding.

That's totally fine! During my last trip DH and I made FP's for Dinosaur and since I don't like that ride, I gave him my MB to use my FP. There was no issue.

My daughter loves Space Mountain. I hate it, as it hurts my neck. She gets to ride it twice, using my FP+ and her FP+. A person is a person is a person. You aren't creating additional, fake FP+, are you? You (your family) are just using the ones that you reserved. If you ate a restaurant, would you only eat the food you ordered, or do you share bites of food with your spouse, kids, etc? It's your food to do with as you like, as it is your FP+ to do with as you like!

Thanks.... I completely agree. We actually just returned from Disney on Tuesday, and ran into this scenario multiple times. My 11 year old absolutely would not use her sisters MB/fastpass. She just kept insisting it was wrong. She is a complete rule follower by nature, but this blew me away!

I tried to explain to her that it was the equivalent of me buying 2 cookies at the food court, and her sister deciding she didn't want hers. She agreed it would be fine for someone else to eat her cookie.... but would not buy that connection to the fast pass situation. Honestly.... I think she lost respect for me that I even suggested it!!!

I just wanted to see what others thought.... I was starting to wonder if I was being dishonest!

It's hard because there's nothing concrete to hold on to. But what if you explained it as your family gets four "tickets" for the ride? However your family decides to use those tickets is fine. It's just that the bands will only hold one ticket so you have to take turns using different bands.

It's sometimes hard for children to see the shades of gray when it comes to ethics. Perhaps she thought you or she would get in trouble if you were caught. I can definitely seeing that weigh on a child of that age, especially with schools being a little more strict these days. But it really is outstanding that she's got a strong morality.

I can kind of understand, since the underside of the magic bands do say that they are non transferable and must be used by the same person every day...

You should have taken her with you and asked the CM at the fastpass line if it was okay.

I think it's absolutely fine. I look at it like this. We are a family of five so we are entitled to a total of 15 initial FP choices. Why would it matter if 5 of us used 3 of them a piece or if 3 used 5 each. It's still the same total number. Nobody loses out on anything.

The CMs are well aware of MB swapping and have never shown any disapproval when we've done it.

The only one being shorted by this is your younger daughter. If she's okay with it, you're fine.

i would have gone to ask a CM as well. Would've cleared it up right there. :) My guy is the same age, hates the idea of getting in trouble, and I can see him doing this as well.

But he used classic fps and had no problem using "mine" if I didn't want to ride, so I don't think he would have that exact issue. It's using the FP, not the MB.
