Fastpass during EMH

How does Fastpass work in the parks that have EMH? If it's a morning EMH do resort guests have the chance to get Fastpasses before non-resort guests? Also, If it's evening EMH, do the Fastpass times go into the EMH hours or do they start the times over at the beginning of the evening EMH?

Sorry for the questions, but last year we never had to use Fastpass (3rd week of Sept.) but we're leaving on Saturday and I'm sure we'll need to use it this year.

During our trip in April, in the morning EMH, some of the FP machines were open and some of them weren't. (Very frustrating, since we had no way to find out without actually going over to the ride). The only ones that were open were for rides that are open for AM EMH (but not all of them).

For evening, it seemed the same (Maelstrom FP not open, but I think some rides were). I dont know if it has to do with popularity of the rides or what, but we did not find a consistant pattern that we could count on.

Sorry this is not more helpful. Maybe it is different now. We were there during the extra-crowded Spring Break weeks.
