Fastpass + and upgrading to a premier pass

Hello all! My wife and I are in the early stages of planning a trip to Disney World next October. We currently are Signature Plus AP holders out here at Disneyland and our passes are set to expire October 15, 2016. We were looking at upgrading our passes to a premier pass and going to Disney World in later October after we renewed our passes again. However, I have realized that by us not holding premier passes 60 days prior to our planned trip (we're going to stay on property), we cannot make fastpass + reservations. If we were to acquire regular park tickets when we booked our hotels in order to make fastpass + reservations, does anyone know if we would be able to apply the value of the regular park tickets to upgrading our pass from Signature AP Plus to premier? No, you can't combine tickets to do an upgrade.

I was able to apply WDW tickets to purchase premier pass when upgrading from my southern cal pass at DL.

Thank you!! Were you able to make fastpass+ reservations with the WDW tickets that you used to upgrade to the premier pass? Also, did you go from straight tickets to a premier or did you upgrade an existing pass? We would be upgrading an existing pass if possible (because our pass would renew right before our trip).

The tickets we used stayed in our MDE and I reassigned them to phantoms and was able to make FP+ reservations with them. I used the tickets to upgrade from a Southern Cal pass to premier. It took the ticket booth a while to do. Go in the morning because they have to call Orlando to verify ticket prices.
