Fastpass and Shows at MGM

HI. I am travellling to Disney World in July. I have never used the fastpass and want to use the fastpass system to see Lights,Camera, Action and Indiana Jones show. I am using Steve Soares website for an estimate of show times. My questiion is, when would I have to obtain a fastpass for the Lights,camera,action show if I would want to see a 2:45 show and what time would I have to obtain a fastpass to see the Indiana Jones 4:00pm show? I know the show times could be different in July as I am looking at times for April. I have read that fastpass sells out quickly and buy the afternoon there usually arent's any fastpass available. I am not interested in riding any of the thrill rides except maybe for Star Wars for my son, however I am hesitant because he is only 5 and my daughter is only 3. I would appreciate any advice anyone could give. Thanks

Anything we can say would be a guess at best....and I won't even guess because I don't have a clue. All I can think to be sure you see the show you want is to keep checking back. The Fastpass signs tell you what time is currently being given out.

Thank you, I didn't realize that there is a sign that tells you what time the fastpass is going out for. Do you happen to know if the lines are pretty long for the afternoon shows of Lights,camera, action & Indiania without a fastpass? or do they move pretty fast since the theatres seem to hold alot of people according to some of the books?

Hi! We were at MGM on April 4 and they were not using Fastpass for Lights Motor Action, I'm sure its busier in July so maybe they use Fastpass more regularly. Friends who visited President's Day week in February did use Fastpass, but their return time was still about 45 minutes before the show so it didn't let them slip in at the last minute for a guaranteed seat. There were only three shows of Lights Motor the day we were there and two conflicted with our ADR's, so I think we went to a 2:45 show. We went more than 45 minutes early, mainly because the wait times at the things we wanted to go were too long to make it back for the show, so we figured at least we could sit down for a while. They were still letting people in close to show time but honestly I have no idea where they sat, because the stadium was pretty crowded.

We did Fastpass for Indiana Jones, but that was sort of unnecessary our day. We had 12:30 -12:45 return for a 1pm show, and when we went just after 12:30 no one was being let in, and the line to get in the Fastpass entrance as probably longer than the standby entrance. That day I think you would have had no problem at all getting in 20 minutes ahead. Despite the crowds entering at the same time as us, we still were able to get second row seats, which my ds wanted.

We did Star Tours with the kids for the first time this trip and both enjoyed it. They are older than your kids, 10 and 7, but the 7 year old can be a bit of a ride wimp and had no problem with it. Neither dh nor I had any problems either--we both felt sick after riding Body Wars years ago and haven't done it since, but we had no problem with Star Tours. It is a great ride if your son is a Star Wars fan. We did Fastpass this ride, the line was probably 20-30 minutes when we went by around 10am and we figured it was silly to wait. The return time on Fastpass wasn't that far out, maybe 30 minutes or so, so we went to see Muppetvision 3D, used the bathrooms, and it was time to ride Star Tours (then we got the Indiana Jones Fastpasses right after, before our 11:15 lunch ADR).

I forget the times we got fastpasses for Lights Camera Action - maybe 1 PM before we went to see beauty and the beast show then Muppets 3D.

I know all kids are different, but our DD3 (she was just 40") loved TOT and Star Tours. We went on TOT 4 times and Star Tours twice. We are going back again this September and now at 4 she can't wait to go on the rides she went on last year.

Just a reminder that the FastPass for the stunt show at the Studios does not lock you out of another FP. It is what I guess you would call a free FP...although they are all free. So you can grab FastPasses for the Indian Jones show and then head over to the stunt show and it will give you FP for that show also. All other FP at WDW are tied together inside that theme park. So if you get one for Star Tours you could not get one for Tower of Terror (for example) until your next FP window opens. The bottom of the FP tickets tell you what time you can get your next FP. The stunt show is the only one not tied into the regular FP system so you will not be locked out if you get them.

We went to the 5:30 show over Spring Break. We went to get a FP at 1:30 and the 2:30 show FP's were already gone. The CM told us the FP window was between 4:55 and 5:05 after that they let everyone in and the FP becomes useless. We ended up not going to the parade which started at 5.

It was a great show, and I didn't mind missing the parade because we had seen it and will be going back in September so we can see it then.
