Fastest way to get from AK to MK

I am a newbie, my apologies if someone has already asked this a hundred times. I am just trying to figure out how we can get to Magic Kingdom from Animal Kingdom. How long should I allow? We are getting to AK when it opens next week on Thursday, but have dinner reservations in Magic Kingdom at 4:30.

Using Disney transport I would be leaving AK by about 3 p.m. to allow enough time for the trip and to get through the MK gates to your restaurant.

Best ways to go would be bus to the TTC, then ferry boat or monorail to the MK; or bus to the CR and walk from there.

I would go with bus to Contemporary and then walk over to MK. This will leave give you the option with the least amount of possible issues. The monorail could have issues and shut down for a period of time. The other options will have two forms of transportation so can lead to longer waiting times if the bus/boat is not there right away.

Welcome to the DIS boards, and to the Transportation board in particular!!

In any case, I would take the bus to the CR, and then walk over to the MK. The sidewalk is easy to find..get off the bus, walk towards BLT, and you will see the sidewalk that runs right beneath the monorail line. The walk takes under 10 mins. You may want to leave AK by 3ish, just so you can take your time and not worry. Getting into MK takes a few minutes, and then you need to get to your restaurant. So plan on getting to the CR by 3:50 or so, which means leaving AK by 3:15 at the latest.

Take the bus from AK to the Contemporary, and walk to MK.

If you do not want to walk, you'd be taking the AK bus to the TTC and then you'd still need to climb the monorail platform or walk over to the ferryboat.

Give it at least an hour. Hour and a half to be safe.

Is there a bus to/from AK/TTC? What about HS/TTC. I didn't think park buses (or any buses) go to the TTC? Or is it just resort buses that don't go to the TTC?

The resort buses do not go to TTC, just the park buses.

Resort buses drop you off at the front of the park. If you are going from AK/HS to Magic Kingdom, the bus will drop you off at the TTC, and you will then have to take the ferry or monorail to the Magic Kingdom.

If you are going from Epcot to the Magic Kingdom, you have to take the monorail to the TTC and then either transfer to the Express or Resort Monorail or take the ferry.

If going from the Magic Kingdom to AK or HS, right now, those buses are at the TTC. That will be changing in the future, though.
