Fastest Dial Up

When we travel to my inlaws, there is only dial up access to their house and boy is it slow.

I see these commericals for "dialup at 5 times the speed of dial-up" all of the time.

Has anyone ever tried these?

If so, can you recommend one that works if it does?

Dial up is dial up. What these "faster" services do is keep a lot of files on your computer. It takes up hard drive space so it doesn't have to download these files every time you are online.

You are still connecting at the same speed, it just appears faster because you are eliminating download some of the files needed because you have them on your computer.

My dial up isn't bad. It's faster than my sister's DSL. But my computer is also a lot newer (she has a PII, I have a PIII). Not sure if that makes the difference.

There is no such thing as fast dialup.

I have accelerated dial-up from my provider and honestly I don't really notice a difference, my hair still turns gray waiting for pages to load. Dial-up is slooooooow.
