fast passes before 60 day mark

I've read it works for people.
Their park tickets are linked to a package but they stay at another resort as a room only package a couple days before hand and they end up being able to start their fast passes the day the room only package starts.
Disney CM's say I can't start my fp selections until this coming MOnday which will be 60 days from my 7 day park and resort package but I am staying at another resort room only two days beforehand which makes my fast pass selection start tomorrow if that were true.
Is it worth me trying tomorrow at 7?
Has this happened for anyone else?

Yes, it worked and I got what I wanted! now the system is down so can't finish all of them but I was able to get Fof P, Frozen, 7dmt and all the other fun stuff!

Sweet, thanks for the info- I have a room only in Riverside 2 days before package starts, so I will try also. Were you able to book FP for the room only days? or just the package?
