Hi all . I was at Dis. about a year ago. I am going in Oct, again. What changes have they made with the fast pass system? What is plus?

The fastpass you used a year ago is gone. The machines have been removed.

The new system is still in testing mode so further changes may occur. Currently, you can make fastpass + reservations for three rides per day. Those rides must be in the same park. In Epcot and DHS, their are "tiers" of rides so that you can only choose certain rides. For example, you can only choose one of Test Track and Soarin' on the same day.

People staying onsite can make their fastpass reservations up to sixty days in advance if their reservation is linked to Disneys My Disney Experience site. People staying offsite currently can only do this day of at special kiosks in the parks. You also need to link your tickets. The site will allow you to reserve FP+ ahead of time for your days of reservation including arrival and departure days.

Pretty much all of this can be controlled through the app. There are still glitches reported.

There are a lot of opinions out there. Most veterans dislike it but that may be the result of people being more likely to post as a complaint. The Theme Park Strategies board has more information. easywdw.com has touring strategies that have been updated for the new system. Hint: it recommends rope drop. The site has an example for Presidents' Day which is a busier than normal day.
