Fast Pass - Return Time Question

At WDW there was a time recently where you could return to your ride anytime after your fast pass was issued to you - even after your time window. This has now changed.

I am making our first trip to DL in June. What is the fast pass rules for DL?

Do I have to use the ticket in the time window on the pass or can I use it anytime that day even hours after the issued time period? Also, I am assuming you have to wait a time period to get a second fast pass within the same park?

Thanks.

from what I have read, they are cracking down on return times. You need to be back during your FP time.

As with Disney World, Disneyland used to allow Fastpasses to be used anytime after the first return time. This is no longer the case. I was there this past Thursday-Sunday and never got turned away because we were aware of the new fastpass time enforcement and were always within the time frame. However, once for Star Tours, our fastpasses had a return time of 9:55 pm -10:55 pm, and we had mistakenly thought it said 10:30 -11:30, and we had just so happened to arrive at the entrance at 10:55 pm. I gave my fastpass to the cast member and she looked at my ticket, then the fastpass return time on the display, and reluctantly and slowly said "okay..." like she really didn't want to let us in and was doing us a favor, even though we were techinically within our return time. There was a family in front of us that, from the things they said and the way they were acting, seemed as if got turned away because they were presumably late. I would hate to think how late they were, or weren't, seeing as the cast member seemed tempted to turn us away at a time that was still in the time frame.

I overheard someone today get turned away because they were 20 mins beyond their FP window

I believe the enforcement started sometime in late Feb-early Mar. I hear ride CMs are on watch for this as well. Making exceptions outside of ride closures during your FP window could potentially get them in trouble.

The enforcement began Feb. 18th. You do need to return within the window if you want to use it. You have to wait 2 hours or the time your most recent FP window opens up before you can get another one in the same park. RSR, CS, RRCS and WOC FP's are not connected to the system and can be pulled right after another FP.

I know WOC means World of Color. Does RSR= Radiator Springs Racers? RRCS=Roger Rabbit Car Spin? What does CS mean?

Please forgive me I am a WDW vet and am very familiar with their attractions and acronyms. CS to us is Counter Service or Coronado Springs.

There is a time printed at the bottom of your FP that will tell you when the next one is available. If you pull a FP that is only 30 minutes away, another FP will be available in 30 minutes.

Currently working on an updated FP thread, but please don't expect too much out of it. It'll be my first time trying to make a big thread :D

Please keep all the experiences with late FPs coming. I want to get as complete of a picture as I can.

If you return much after your window has closed don't expect to be allowed to ride. There are signs on the FP machines on every attraction that has them, and it's printed right on your FP ticket.

If the attraction is closed during your entire FP window you will be allowed to ride later. Not the next day tho.

Doesn't get much clearer than this.

We just got home from 5 days in the parks, and the new FP enforcement didn't affect how we toured at all.

Yeah it is a Brave New World these days lol. I actually went back to the park the first time since they cracked down on the return times just the past weekend and I probably used about 3 FPs: Indy, Soarin and SM. I would say they are definitely very strict now. I made it to SM about 3 minutes before my FP was about to expire (and I was hustling from DCA lol). The guy got my pass, checked his watch to make sure and then let me through. I started thinking my god if I was just 3 mins AFTER the time would he let me through?

It is amazing how different its become when for basically a decade they didnt care how late you come back. Now out of nowhere they are as strict as they can be! As someone who use to come back past the window about 50-60% of the time and sometimes come waaaaaay later like hours and it was great, but not really a big deal end of the day. Now I will simply get the FPs for later times (since I like riding the bigger stuff at night mostly) and with things like Otto, Mouse Waits and other wait time phone devices its not hard to map out the best time to get them.

I couldnt tell if if made the lines any faster or better to be honest because Indy was basically a walk on anyway when I used my pass and Soarin and SM werent all that busy either. Some can argue having a more effiecient FP system all day made those lines much smoother, but it seem to move about the same on previous softer days in general when unrestricted return times. I think it has to be a busier day to see any real difference.
