Hello all, I have some questions regarding FP that I'm having troubles locating answers.

My wife and I, and our two boys, ages 3 & 6 (turns 7 on our trip) are will be at Disney from Oct 11-17, We are staying on site. because of how we are wanting to pay for things we are waiting to get our tickets when we arrive on the 11th.

So, due to not getting our tickets until we arrive we are not able to set up FP for our visit ahead of time. Our first day at the parks will be on the 12th, if we get our tickets on the 11th, can we set up any random remaining for our days?

If we don't set any FP slots up at all until each day can you set up 3 of them in the park at a FP terminal or is it still just one FP at a time if adding them in park?

We are honestly not that concerned about getting FP as this is the first visit for my wife and kids (around the 15th or so visit for me.) We really just want to let the boys walk around and experience everything. Won't be our last trip so not a biggie.

Yep, as soon as you buy your tickets you can set up FP+ for all of your days, and, if you don't do it in advance, you can do all 3 at a kiosk on the day of inside the park. Since they are your initial three FP+ you can do them on your phone that day as well. You can also have the concierge at your hotel set them up for you if you prefer.

On a slightly related topic, don't forget you can also take advantage of rider swap. It will be a great benefit considering the ages of your children. Enjoy your trip.

As a first time visitor (Welcome!) You might wonder why we all go crazy over FPs... I'm glad that you are taking everything in strides and just looking forward to BEING there. However, sometimes new visitors are a bit overwhelmed by the amount of crowds, and standing in one hour, two hour or worse lines. Without a good amount of planning, you might decide it's too much money to stand in line all day and only get to see a few things before everyone gets tired and wants to go back.

I sometimes can get decent FPs within a few days and occasionally same day (the earlier the better.) Please consider once you DO get your tickets, booking at least 3 items as soon as its feasible. Download the app, don't wing it in the crazy kiosks in the park. Book all 4 days, something.

The hardest ones to get a FP and typically have the longest wait:
EP - Soarin or Test Track (must choose one or the other but try to at least get one so one line is short.) Mission Space can very from 15-90 min (up to you if you want these attractions.
MK - 7Dwarf Mine Ride has very long waits and can be very hard to get an FP for. Book it if you can and want, otherwise try opening and closing of the park hours. Space Mtn and Peter Pan all have really long waits too. If you have lil ones, try to get an FP for Peter Pan, its great for them.
HS- Toy Story Mania is the hardest to get and has really long lines and your family will love it. If you can't pick up an FP for this, try first thing in the morning or during Fantasmic. It's pretty much the best thing at HS. Other rides like Tower of Terror depending on your family (if you want to ride it) can have really long lines too.
AK- DEFINITELY try to get Kilimanjaro as sometimes the lines can fill up. Others like Everest if you want (can sometimes be at 45 min), Kali River is really long when its hot, and Dinosaur and Primeval can get a line (also not sure based on your ages).

If I might offer a suggestion, even if you decide not to order your tix a few months in advance, you could order them a week ahead, use the confirmation number to book these the week ahead (which should help quite a bit) and use the will call to pick up.

And if you decide to buy tickets at the park, be sure and come see me at the ticket center!

This will be my first time since about 2006, so last time I went Disney still had the awesome printed fast passes.

I do have the app and have done lots and lots of planing and reading since its been a while since my last visit.
So even with the app and already starting to go through the parks you can still make FP choices from the app? I thought it could only be done at a kiosk, that will make things easier with using the app.

When we arrive on the 11th we are going to get our tickets at Shades of Green, check into hotel, go to ticket and transportation to activate the tickets. once back in the room that evening, planing on checking to see what might be available.

Both boys are very excited and we have watched plenty of ride videos and other things related to the parks, only two things so far that they are looking forward to more then anything. 7 year old wants to do jedi training, which we are planing RD to get him signed up for it, and my 3 year old son wants to do A&E meet and greet, which I have read plenty on here about that experience. Havn't decided if we will go there at RD or wait until end of night on the non MNSSHP night.

OP, you can book up to 3 at any time (as available) from the phone app. The only time you need to use the kiosk is if you don't already have the app or are looking to book extra FPs after your prebooked 3 have been used up. When you get your tickets linked to your MDE, book book book!

The app is practically essential even if you didn't book FPs with it (but its so easy to.) You can check menus before you get to any restaurant to make sure the menu and prices jive before you get there, you can check all the show times but most importantly, you can see all 4 parks wait times for all attractions. This will save your feet SO much and tell you if it's worthwhile hopping etc (if you are.)

The app has changed things so much since you were here. Also, if you aren't getting magic bands, I think a cute lanyard for each family member (or at least the bigger guests) is essential. You have to take the cards out through out the day and its just a pain to dig it out and put it back and dig it out and put it back. Lanyards or magic bands! Make sure they are handy and attached to your person.

And otherwise, have a great time. It's all new and its all familiar at the same time! (Nostalgic and brand new at every turn.)
