Fast pass questions where to start

I have not been planning a trip since the changes with the fast pass. I'm seeing so many threads that I have no idea where to start.

Are they no longer offering fast passes at the rides?

We are possibly going this June and I want to make sure I understand it all. I'm not sure what the magicband is yet either. Any basic 101 info you can give me would be great.

fastpass legacy no longer exists to my knowledge. If you have a trip planned your best place to start is on the My Disney Experience website. Setup an account and link your hotel reservations to it. After that you can link your tickets and choose magic bands, FP+, etc.

We were there for NYE with Fp+. Here is how I started.

Decided what days would be in what park-I used easywdw
Decided on hopping etc..For example, on NYE we did RD at AK, so I saved our FP for Epcot that evening.

Made sure magicbands were there, you may need to link tickets if you did not do a package or tickets thru WDW.

Then when I knew where we would be, decided what to ride and when. I tended to pick early afternoon FP+. The upside of FP+ was that on arrival day we got to DHS at 4pm. We already had FP for TSM at 5pm. That would have never been possible before!

Then went into MDE and picked the FP+ for the party. Made sure to note my dining ressies as to not interfere with FP.

I had no tech issues and found the process pretty easy, but it does take some planning. WE did change our FP one day from MK to DHS. I did it early am that morning of the switch and had no problems. WE also changed two FP+ on the fly when we decided to change what we wanted to ride that moment.
