Hey, everybody!! Only six, yes SIX  , more days until our 1st trip. I have read a great deal about getting fast passes (i.e. they run out early, great to have, etc) and even talked to someone that used them this past April. I just don't understand how you get them, where you get them, when you use them, what they actually say. I tried to do a search but got so much stuff, I couldn't sort through it. I'll check back after I color the lovely grey out of my hair so I won't be scary next week...hehe. :earboy2: (yeah, Mickey ears would cover it) Thanks!

The fastpass machines are located near the entrance to the attractions that use them.

You'll put your park ticket in, it will give you back your park ticket, along with a fastpass ticket that tells you when to come back.

Here's the text of a fastpass I got last night (and ended up not using)
at the top is a "Mission Space" logo (which is the ride I was going to do), and the following text is printed (copied line for line ... the actual text is centered on the FP ticket):
"Enter Any
Time Between
7:39PM
and
8:39pm
Another FASTPASS
ticket will be
available after
7:42PM
08/13/05 7:01p"

Hey, you will have a great time! The fast pass machines are just outside certain major attractions. For instance, at MK, Space Mountain and Splash Mountain are "fast pass attractions". Very easy, all you do is put your ticket into one of the machines and it will spit out a paper fast pass with times on it. You come back between those times printed on the fast pass.

We like to get to Splash Mountain first thing (or Rock n' Roller Coaster) and get fast passes before we get in line.

Have a great trip! Excuse me if I over-explain this to you! I just wanted to try to be thorough.

The FP booths are at any rides that has a FP option (see park map or your guide book to identify) At the ride there will be the regular stand-by entrances and then there is another sign above them that says Fast Pass distribution and there are ticket machines there. It will tell you what time the FP are being given out for. ie Fast Pass Return 2:30 - 3:30. so you can decide if you want to get one or not(since you can only hold 1 FP at a time), if your schedule does not permit. If you want it, you put your park ticket in and it prints you a FP. Each member of your party that wantes to ride has to do this. It will say the time on there and it will also say "Cannot get another FP until _____(a certain time)". I think it is usually 5 min after the FP you got starts.(I'm sure the experts can explain that one better, I didn't plan my FP :earseek: before I arrived so I cannot comment on a good plan!) So if you got a FP for Splash Mountain for 2:30-3:30, at 2:35 you could get another FP for another ride.

I hope this explained it a little more. I am sooooo jealous you are leaving soon. We went for the 1st time in May and I am hooked!!!!! Don't have my next trip planned but hopefully Spring '06.

Prepare for an amazing trip. Best wishes to you and all who may be traveling with you! Regarding FP, one rule our family abides by is "Alwasy have a Fast Pass". When we use one we almost always have another one in pocket. This policy really pays off when trying to sqeeze in rides on Jungle Cruise, Splash, and BTMR in the same segment of time. (Other example also apply)

Very good explaination. I believe I understand it. This is also our first visit. Thank you

Fastpasses are extremely simple. Its one of those things that sounds difficult, but once you're faced with it, you'll realize its nothing. Take advantage of them as often as possible. If the wait time for a ride is to your liking and the fast pass machines are open(they will sometimes have them closed during low crowd tmies), then by all means grab a fastpass AND wait to ride. Come back when your fastpass time allows.....this is what we do if possible. If you need to do child swap, its almost the same thing. You tell the CM at the entrance to the line that you want to do child swap. They will give you a pass that is good for up to 3 people. You wait with the kids that don't want to(or can't) ride while hubby rides with the other kids(or by himself). There is usually a special waiting area for this, but not always. When DH returns, you take the child swap passes and 2 others if you want(your other kids who already rode can ride again with you!), get in the fastpass line and off you go! Its a great thing that we take advantage of every trip as we have a 15yo, 11yo(chicken), and a 2yo...I love this! Have a great trip!

Just make sure when you go back to ride that you get on the FastPass Return line. It's near the standby line and there is a CM at the entrance that will check to see if you have a FP and that it is for that time frame, then it will be collected up front when you get on! YES....FAST PASS! FAST PASS! FAST PASS!

Everybody's explanations are great. Two things to keep in mind -

1. You can never be TOO LATE for your fast pass....if you get delayed at a meal, or a show and it appears that your fast pass time has past, DON"T WORRY....you can take that FP with a return time of 2:30 -3:30 that you received for Space Mountain back at 5:00 and you will be OK...you just can't go EARLIER than the times stated.

2. Always read the final line that says when the next pass will be available...sometimes it's just a few minutes later....sometimes it's 2 hours later. Many times you can get a FP for another ride before riding the one you already have the pass for.....best way to know...read that last line and you can't go wrong.

(Also, when we were there in June, the FP for Lights Motor Action, the car show in MGM, didn't really count as a FP as far as the "wait" time for another one....you could get a FP for that and then immediately get one for something else. Actually, I got all 5 FP for my group using one AP - can't do that with any other FP machine)
