Fast Pass Question

I have another FP question: How strictly does DLP adhere to the FP 'window' that you get to go on the ride? For instance, if your FP says 12:30 to 1:30, does it expire at 1:30 and the CM won't let you go on?

That might be a difference beween DL and DLP. At DL, you can use your FP any time after the first time printed on the ticket (for my example, 12:30), even if it's late in the evening! The CMs check that you do not go on before your time, but it doesn't matter after that. :thanks:

It's up to the CM. I have used a FP expired an hour before, and I didn't had any problem. We didn't realized about the time window (we were on another ride). If the CM says you cannot go on, you won't go on.

Anyway, it makes no sense to me to have a FP with a time window, and use it hours later. I mean, then you better won't take a FP. If all of us would do this at the same hour, FP queues would be even longer that standard queues

No offense disneylandkids, it's just my opinion

When we tried to get on BTM with only 15 minutes left on our window we found a whole queue of people waiting to get on that arrived before and after their time. The CM understandably would not let them on but it required us to push through; which I did not like, to ensure that we still managed to ride. :)
Those that arrived after by a few minutes were let through. The others were turned away :thumbsup2

You can try, but please stand to the side so that others with active FP's can get through :)

Are the Disney hotels still offering Hotel FastPasses? If so, is the magic number 3 FPs? And that's per person, right? Do you get them per day?

IMHO I'm sure that not all the hotels do this only the deluxe and only one set is handed out, not per day :)

Only the DLH do the fastpasses. you get 3 per person however you can't use them on any day you like. They have a date on them and they can only be used on this day. For example if you were there for 3 days, and they were 4 people in your party you would get 12 fastpasses however you would only be able to use 4 a day, and if you don't use them you can't save them for another day.

One additional FP question. Does anyone know about the VIP fastpass. I read that it was different than the DLP FP -but it didn't explain how - just that it was given to those staying in a suite. Anyone out there know anything about this:confused3

Why would someone keep waiting if they had already been turned away because their FPs had expired? That doesn't make a bit of sense. Did you actually hear what the CM said to the people that were not allowed through?

A bientot.

We got one FP for each day, four passes in total, at the DLH, but they were dated and could not be used before 2.00pm.

Here's my understanding of the VIP FPs (although I am no expert!!). They seem like they are unlimited FPs. Good for your entire day in the park on all FP rides, however many times you might want to use them for the duration of your stay. Very appealing, I think, and it was a high priority for us. We are visiting the park when it's only open 8 hours/day, so time is precious. It's not a park that we might ever visit again, so we might want to ride Space Mountain or Big Thunder a LOT.

The other 'high' aspect is the price associated with these passes. The DLH Castle Club level gets these FPs. One reservationist told me that there were no VIP FPs available at the Newport Bay Hotel, and another told me that you could only get them at the Newport by booking the Presidential Suite. (For what it's worth, the Presidential Suite was cheaper than two rooms at the Castle Club in DLH, which was required to accommodate our family of 5).

Because of the cost, we have decided to let go of the idea of VIP FPs and just see how things work out. Thank you to the other posters on this board who have written their strategies for FP collection and use during a day; that's really helpful! (I have done something like this for folks going to Disneyland in CA, and it really helps!)

I've obviously not made myself very clear.:)
I saw people in front of us who arrived a whole hour earlier than their fastpass time. Heard others talk about arriving late :confused3
Along with DD I excused myself through towards the front of the line.
The CM was telling those who arrived early, to stand at the side and next time to come back closer to their FP window. Many didn't so they were blocking the queue and the CM advised them to move aside or they would not get in :thumbsup2 He told those who had expired times to leave the queue so that those of us using FP's in our window could get through :goodvibes

Thanks disneylandkids. That helps! The other problem is availability. My TA has been trying for weeks to get castle club rooms for our trip in June. We will only be there one full day so it does sound really good to spend as little time as poss. in line. The kids are 8 and 10 and def. want to do the rides - i'd be happy just taking it all in!
I guess we'll just see what happens. Oh, and ditto to all the great FP info from everyone.:)

LisaTex, maybe you ought to call DLP directly yourself for that booking. (Get yourself a discount overseas calling plan first, though! I got PennyTalk--as I'm sure everybody now knows but I am *thrilled* with their rates--so it's not a huge issue with money to call them yourself.) I had worked with a TA on our trip, and honestly, I found more information on my own, on the message boards, than they could do for me. Best of luck!
