Fast pass question PLEASE

I have an AP but have not been in 10 months. Please explain if the old machines are still there for each ride or do I have to make reservations for a fast pass. I do not have a magic band just my credit card type pass. I am confused and don't want to not be able to get fast passes in April. I don't even know where to begin! Please help.
