fast pass + & Magic Band questions

So I'm still confused over the whole FP+ and Magical Bands so I guess I will just have to wait until I'm closer to my arrival date and see if anything magically appears in MDE. (I arrive Dec 9th)

In anticipation that it will magically appear I'm wondering if anyone can answer a question.

My reservation is for a party of three but we are meeting up with another party of five. One member in the other party has an online account.

We've both added all members to "my family and friends" and added our respective reservations. Both of our accounts have "you manage this account" next to all family members except for myself and the other account holder.

I can see all of our ADR's and our hotel reservations and see how many ADR's each member has.

Working on the premise that something will magically happen and I can order bands and/or make my fast pass choices I'm wondering will I be able to make fast pass selections and customise magic bands for all 8 of us or only the 3 on my resort reservation?

We've set our preferences to allow each other to add plans for each other but I still haven't worked out what it means and what I can actually do.:confused3

If anyone can shed some light it would be greatly appreciated.

I'm just having a wee read here https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/plan/my-disney-experience/family-friends/ as our window gets closer, and that sounds exactly like what you can do. It looks like you and your friend can both make reservations/fastpass+ selections etc for the whole group.

It looks like doing it the way you've done it means you can choose to add whomever you like (from the group) to things you are doing, so if you want do do things separately that's fine - you just choose the names you want to include.

I imagine I'm telling you stuff you've already read but it looks like an awesome system if it works the way it should! :D Have you guys emailed each other and linked up that way?

I did read that, but wasn't quite sure... It makes sense but then I read that everyone would have to have the same fast pass selection (or at least I think I read that) Too much info in my head at the moment...:)

If we all had to have the same choices that would be inconvenient since my party is all adults and my niece has three small children.

We are meeting up and doing most things together but have a couple of different ADR's and park days.

Hopefully everything will magically fall into place.

My niece is in Canada so we skyped for about two hours today setting everything up.

I arrive at art of animation on November 29. - I customised my magic bands last week they won't send them to Australia - you collect them at check in - I'm waiting for 60 days out to make fast pass + bookings

I'm still 72 days out so realise I won't be able to make any fast pass bookings for at least another 12 days. Each time I log in I get a window showing earlier dates to my arrival date but a message quickly flashes up saying at least one guest's reservation must fall within these days to book. So I'm all good with that.

My question was more about being able to book for all members of my travel party or just those on my room booking as we have two separate reservations that are linked in My Disney Experience.

Yes, you'll be able to do that Platypus, and your other 'managing' family member too. The "you manage this profile" thing means that your other family members didn't create the other profiles with their own logins etc, you guys did - so you have full control of them. When you go to make bookings, you can click as to which guest you want on those bookings. You could practice with an ADR now if you wanted - make a booking for four or six people somewhere not busy and then you'll be able to see that you can click to choose which names (out of the two combined families) you want associated with the booking. (Then just cancel it when you're done, lol.)

I've already done ADR's both as a complete group and also separate ones for each party so I know how that works. It's just all the conflicting info regarding the booking of fast passes that had me confused.

Some say you have to book all the same others that you don't and then there are the ones that say you do but then you can change them.:confused3

I guess all will hopefully be revealed in 12 days...

Can I recommend you have a look on youtube. I saw a few videos on there that demonstrated how the fastpass+ worked on MDE as well as the kiosks at the park. On the kiosk you could change fastpasses and book new ones. It holds onto the old one until the new one is confirmed.

From what I could see everyone in your group can have their own individual fastpass on different rides.
