fast pass lines?

Hi. I'm taking my kids to WDW for the first time. We plan on starting our day at MK by first getting a fastpass for Splash Mountain, and then getting in line for Big Thunder Mountain. I'm curious...are there usually lines for the fastpass machines, too?? Seems like if a thousand other people have the same idea, we could be looking at lines wherever we are. Just wondering.....the last time I was at MK was over 10 years ago, and there were no fastpasses then!

The lines for fast pass move pretty quickly. There are multiple machines at each attraction. We never waited more than about 3 minutes for a fast pass, even at peak times. I think it usually took longer to dig out the tickets than to wait for the fast pass line

If there is a line it's only about 3 or 4 deep and FP are done in seconds.

Wow that's amazing! Sometimes in Disneyland the Fastpass lines can get rather long. I'll always have a FP in my hand that's for sure.

It depends on the time of year you go, but the fastpass lines can get fairly long but they move quickly.. we just got home Tuesday and I thought it was very busy, but even with the long lines, the longest we waited for a fastpass was 10 minutes, with the exception of Soarin' - that was a 30 minute wait for a FP when the EMH's started and the FP's were all gone within 15 minutes

Sometimes getting INTO the line can be tricky, as people with fastpasses that aren't good yet will sometimes stand in a big blob right around the entrance. I find (if my pass is already good, that is) that a firm "excuse me, please" will do the trick. CMs are usually fairly good at moving people away.

One of the best things to do is to have one person get the fastpasses for everyone, it helps keep the crowd around the machines down.

It's probably one of the most helpful things people can do at Fast Pass machines!
