Fashion in the parks...

So on a recent trip to Paris I noticed a big difference in how the French dressed. Both the men and women seemed a lot smarter and a lot 'dressier'
Is this the same in the parks??
Or it it more Orlando style - vests and flip flops?

its very casual in the park and all over the resort at DLP - definitely comfy park-wear, not Paris high fashion .

DW and I dress casually and for comfort while in the parks, but in the evenings we like to dress for dinner. I like to wear a jacket, shirt and tie, mostly so I can wear one of my many Disney or Mickey Mouse ties.

Ditto! Well minus the tie & shirt!.
I do like to be well turned out of an evening at DLP but I don't wear tracksuits or trainers at home anyway so my park attire is no different from my normal clothes choices of jeans and a top.
It is very casual at the parks so maybe go for what you'd normally wear so long as you remember the comfy shoes

I've never been in DLP when it's been warm enough for vests and flipflops, including visits in May and June!

I'm usually in jeans and t-shirt and trainers... +/- scarves/jacket/coat as appropriate. On one visit it was about 0 degrees or below and at that point I wanted to be warm way more than I cared how I looked - so gloves, earmuffs, even had overtrousers at one point cause it was so cold!

Adding my 5 cents here.....beware of July and August when the crowds are out if you get embarrassed - it IS Orlando style for the some younger visitors and I spent most of my time covering my Pirate's eyes haha!!
Very short shorts (not long shorts as in the average Magic Kindgom guest) and bikini tops/flip flops......ok it was in the top 30's and everyone was drenched in sweat, but still!
So don't be fooled by the high Paris fashion, it's not like that inside the parks at all in summer. (But MOST guest are dressed appropriately).

I usually opt for plain jeans and one of my Mickey Mouse/Disney shirts.
For shoes I wouldn't advice flipflops because personally I don't find them very suitable for attractions. It's easy to scratch/wound/hurt your feet both your toes and heel that way + you can lose them quite easily, but that's just my opinion. If you like something open, Crocs are totally themepark appropriate if you ask me.
I usually wear boots (winter), sneakers, All Stars or ballerina type shoes.

Definitely no high fashion, just what you feel good in and comfy footwear I'd say!

Do you know what impressed me most from last July? I didn't see 1 male young or old shirtless, it's a pet hate of mine, there's a time and place for everything! Pity that antiperspirant/deodorant isn't more popular though

I'm pretty sure it's a rule to keep your clothes on at disney. In WDW bikini tops aren't allowed either I am surprised they are at DLP to be honest.

DLP do NOT always stick to the rules. I have photos to prove it from last year. Shorts were so short nothing was left to the imagination! Plus Halloween said "no masks, no unsuitable costumes, no gory (my word here) makeup/injuries".....saw all of that too!

Ok I guess if YOU saw it and have PHOTO proof it's true. I'm not saying it's not but I would be surprised to see a shirtless man or a woman in a bikini top at DLP. God knows why any one would take a picture of some one in short shorts. But sure you have an answer for that too.

I think that dress-style, is basicly just from that side of Europe really.

Thank you Elaine. I was just saying how the rules are not stuck to or enforced all the time.

(And it's people in the background that show up when you take a photo that shows this. I hope security would be on anyone like a shot if they were purposely taking *those* kind of photos!)

I guess that is where DLP and the other WDW/DL parks differ. Structure and rules make it a lot better.

It's just like the smoking issue - the culture means it's harder to enforce. There are rules, but it's more acceptable in Europe and the CM's are more likely to face abuse in DLP than WDW/DL when pointing them out to a park guest :-/ I think it's more of a guest problem than a Disney problem.

I agree - on both the smoking and clothing attire culture thing ..... I hate generalising but on the whole Americans do tend to dress more conservatively than Europeans.

OP - to get back to your original question, I think you do tend to see more people dressed up than you would in the US parks but the vast majority wear usual park attire ie. flat comfy trainers/sandals/flipflops, jeans/shorts/cargos/leggings and T-shirts/hoodies. I do like dressing up a bit more for dinner at DLP whereas I wouldn't at WDW but that's only because it's easy to pop back to the hotel to change at DLP whereas at WDW it's not quite so practical.

Wear whatever makes you feel comfy.
