Farnborough

Just wanted to say "hi" to fellow DIS-ers across the pond as I will be landing at the Farnborough airport once on 15 May and once on 21 May. Will be short stays at Marriott hotel in Slough on way back to States. Will be my third and fourth trips to UK...however, I have yet to stay more than 24 hours or see anything other than the airport, hotel, and shuttle ride to said hotel...lol. The glamour of a pilot's life. Will wave out the window as I pass

Yes...corporate jet (not airline). I would assume it will be the same Marriott you stayed at. Mostly what I need is quiet for sleep! Our trips to Europe are short overnight stays in multiple cities. Perhaps someday I will see some sights! Thank you

We spend 95% of our nights in the Marriott brand hotels. That is good...points and elite membership nights. I used some of those points for an unexpected week visit to Disney in February...stayed at the Marriott Sabal Palms in a two bedroom unit. Was very nice! Love my Marriott points! I will take the van ride for them

Just noticed you are in Milton Keynes. When my wife and I got married, we built a home in Celebration, FL. Our neighbor 2 houses down the road was a retired couple who also have a home in Milton Keynes. They had the Celebration home for almost 10 years, but sold it last year so as to stay closer to home and grandchildren (the husband liked spending a lot of time there, but the missus was keen to be home more). Anyway, it looks nice up your way from the pictures I have seen of their neighborhood.

We moved here just over a year ago. We lived on the Isle of Man for 10 years but when we retired we needed to be closer to 'life' and airports, theatres, shops, 'life' employment for our daughter, 'life', etc. Love the Isle of Man but after 10 years, it was a case of 'been there, done that, a million times'!!!

Milton Keynes wouldn't suit everyone, it is a very urban place, but (here's where I get very boring) 250,000 people live here, but you don't really see them, all the housing is hidden behind 22 million trees! Over 20% of the area is owned by the Parks Trust so it is all well looked after. Our house faces four lakes, we have ducks, geese, swans, egrets and heron outside our window - we love it! On the other hand, our last few trips to Orlando have been based at the Celebration Hotel! We are past needing resort hotels where there are lots of things to do for children and we love the peace and community of Celebration.

The entire series on DVD! Watch it nearly every night at home(2-3 episodes) when cleaning kitchen after kids go to bed. I just keep running through the series in order over and over again..lol. I remember seeing it "live" as a child when my mom would watch. Got hooked about 6-7 years ago when up feeding my baby son...was on from 4-6 AM. I do love it! A lot of great lines!

When I fly out of Farnborough I stay in the Aviator Hotel which overlooks the runway. Their Sky Bar does some great cocktails.
