Fares from NY-- book now or wait?

I usually go to Disney in September or OCtober, and I always get great airfares, usually less than $135 round trip. THis year my daughter cant miss school so we are to leave around August 25 and return about Sept 9th. The airfare for that time range is crazy, I really do not want to pay $300 on jetblue. I am thinking of maybe leaving on the 24th which is a thursday, and saving on the airfare. Southwest had a great sale, but for me to leave my car at long term parking is not cost effective, nor is taking a taxi, as Islip is about an hours drive from me. Southwest has special deals now until AUg 16th.
Maybe Jet BLue will lower its airfare in a week or so. otherwise I am stuck. Delta is about the same price, and forget AirTran or Spirit, those airlines are not for me.
I will keep checking. DEE[/FONT]

deelovesdis... for that timeframe swa does have GREAT fares ($59) and even greater dings ($41) from islip... and for "cheap" parking, check out the hotels in the islip area as they may participate in the sleep/park/fly deals (stay the night before your flight and leave your car in their parking lot for "free")... might be worth looking into!

gigi1313 , thanks for the info, I did check out islip swa,but there arent any flights for the fri aug 25th, but the 24th has availability. It wouldnt pay to stay in a hotel, rates are over $139 per night in the area, that would negate the savings. there are only 2 of us, my DD and I, and no one to take us or pick us up. So I would either have to drive and leave the car, or take a taxi for $75. I would love to take SWA. I am going to check out long term parking fees.
also, what is a "ding" for $41? that word is new to me.
thanks Deelovesdis

ding is swa's "special fare" deal where you download their program and periodically thru the day special fares that can only be booked online thru the ding screen pop up... they're usually quite discounted...

i believe long term economy parking at islip is $11/day...

I got roundtrip tickets going out of islip ny, in sept for 101. 21. Cheapest tickets, I ever had in my years going to MCO. I remember, back in 1999. I paid 225 r/t. I cannot believe that in this day and age with gas prices. I actually found these cheap tickets. OP, where are you in NY. 300, per r/t ticket does sound rather high.

Did you check AirTran out of White Plains? Most Orlando flights are $59 each way right now. ETA - just checked your dates - $79 each way, and they still have non-stops open.

Thanks. That was the type if fare I was hoping for from jet blue. Unfortunately, my days are pretty set (going 10/7 returning 10/14) because I stay at DVC --fiddling around with dates once the reservations are made is pretty difficult (especially this close).

What makes me the most mad at myself is that the tickets on JB were 275 in the morning. By 4pm (as I debated) almost all options on those dates were over 340.

I saw another post about a lot of people finding ticket prices for OCtober kinda high. at least maybe its not just NY.
